VALENTINA APPLIED A THIN LAYER OF BLUSH ONTO HER SKIN. IT WAS SAFE TO SAY SHE WAS dreading the ballroom dance tonight. It was the first time she was leaving her house since she had been dismissed from the hospital. Lightly she dabbed concealer onto her bruised eye, sighing in the mirror she blinked back the tears forming.
Dominic had not spoken to her since his altercation the previous day. She had hoped he would walk through her door, reassure her how everything will be just fine. Even if she knows he's lying.
She was desperate to be back in his arms, the warmth he provided her could solve all her issues.
A knock on her bedroom door interrupted her thoughts, muttering a small 'come in' the door opened revealing her father.
"Hello my love, how you feeling?"
Valentina was about to lie, tell her father how she was perfectly fine but the tears travelling down her face, gave her way. "I'm not ok, daddy," she whispered, just loud enough he heard her from across the room.
Heartbroken to see his only child in this state, he crouched down beside her. Wiping away the few fallen tears with his thumb, his ran his fingers through her hair in a comforting manner.
"You don't have to come tonight. Phoenix claimed he was more than happy to stay at home with you. Gives him an excuse to not go as well," Nicholas expressed, causing the shattered brunette to let out a chuckle.
Valentina shook her head. "No, this is your big night, I want to be there for you. You've always been there for me."
"Of course I have, princess. You're my daughter, I love you unconditionally, I always will."
"I love you too."
Nicholas got up strolling towards the door, not before turning back, "If this makes you feel better, Dominic will be attending tonight. He's very happy to see your coming, think that's the only reason he's attending."
A genuine smile formed on the nineteen year olds face.

Taking in a deep breath, slowly breathing back out, Valentinaforced a toothy smile at all the cameras that were on them as she stepped out the limousine — the flash blinding her. Phoenix held out his arm signalling to loop her arm with his. Before he led the pair towards the deluxe theatre.
Following behind her father, she kissed the cheek off each person who greeted her. Whether she knew them or not. Many told her their sympathy towards the girl, which she awkwardly accepted happy that Phoenix was beside her to help change the topic.
Every free moment she'll receive, she took that as the opportunity to search around for Dominic. Distressing assumptions formed in her head that he had bailed, or he was avoiding her.
Giving up her hunt for the one man she had hoped to see tonight. She walked outside onto the balcony, admiring the flower garden in front of her. She could easily spot her favourite, Cyclamen.
"It's magnificent, isn't it?" Valentina spun round at the sudden voice. Her heart felt as if it lifted in her chest seeing Dominic stood there.
When he didn't get an answer he spoke again, "The flowers. They're gorgeous."
Nodding in agreement, Valentina replied, "They are." Gazing at his suit attire, she looked back into his eyes, "You look handsome."
"Thank you. You as always look...ravishing."
Dominic came and stood beside Valentina, they both leaned against the stone edge, their hands almost touching. A peaceful silence surrounded them.
"You broke me Valentina. You practically ripped my heart from my chest, you showed no remorse. I despised you for a while. Who wouldn't? You was fucking my ex-best-friend. But as much as I want to think all these negative beliefs about you...I can't ."
"I'm utterly in-love with you, Valentina." Dominic watched as she opened her mouth to speak, shaking his head to stop her. "This is why I have to do this. I would not be able to handle to see you with another man again."
Kneeling down onto one knee, he pulled out a petite velvet red box. It opened revealing the engagement ring that had been passed down in her family for centuries.
"Dominic..."
"Valentina shut up! Please. Just let me finish," the older man spoke, agony laced in his tone.
"I've always known, you were the one for me. Whether I was you person, whether we never got together, whether I never got to express my love for you. It was always you either way. I know it started off rough, I know I made some terrible mistakes. But I can promise you endlessly with all my heart, that it will always be you that my heart desires. Valentina De La Cruz. I'm so fucking infatuated, hooked, captivated by not only your beauty, your kindness, but every little detail of you." Closing his eyes for a moment, Dominic opened them again, gaping into Valentina's teary eyes, "Will you do the honour of marrying me?"
Continuously opening and closing her mouth, Valentina finally found her words. "Dominic, how will this work? You'll love children one day, the one chance we got gifted I ruined it. I ruined everything."
"Stop, don't you get it Valentina? I care more about you then ever having a child. I want you. I need you. Say yes, my love." Dominic demanded.
Slowly breaking out into a smile, Valentina nodded her head. "Y—yes! Of course."
Gleaming brightly, Dominic slid the ring onto her finger as he embraced his fiancé placing a kiss delicately on her cheek, not wanting to smudge her makeup.
"You've truly made me the happiest man alive."
Valentina shock her head, "I should be thanking you. You saved me from what I presumed to be an endless cycle of unfortunate events."
Dominic comfortingly run his hand up and down his soon to be wife's shoulder. Leaning in for a kiss, they both pulled away simultaneously at the sound of clapping and footsteps approaching them.
As the man who was unfamiliar to Dominic came closer, he noticed that Valentina stepped closer to in for protection. He slithered his arm around her waist, pulling her into him.
The unnamed male took one last step before he was directly in-front of the pair. The clapping stopped abruptly, a sinister smile over took his blank expression.
