Chapter Eight: Alan

On my way to the party, I have been trying to call Kiara but she is not picking up my call. Artemis decided to offer me a ride in her car since Kiara has mine and I have hers which is safely parked at the hotel. After twenty minutes we arrive at the Elephant Hills resort and whoa the place is beautiful.

The place is located just outside the town of Victoria Falls near the Zambezi river. As we got near the place loud music welcomed us combined with the laughter of tipsy teenagers. Some were singing along to the lyrics of don't let me down by The Chainsmokers.

"We are here Alan. Let's go have fun," Artemis squealed.

"Yeah sure will join you in a minute I have to call my mom and let her know I'm with you guys," I lied.

"Ok, see you in there," She said and kissed me on the cheek.

I took my phone again and tried to call the psychopath. Again the voicemail answered me. Damn what was wrong with me. Why was I worried about Kiara when I had a chance to hang out with the cool kids.
Damn her I was going to prove to her that I could do without her company.

I left the car and went inside the lavish resort which seemed to have been designed by those expensive interior designers. As I got in I was greeted by the scene of teens making out or playing truth or dare. Some were already passed out on the couches and some were busy dancing intimately. I spotted Rajesh and Artemis along with some of their friends

They beckoned me to join them and offered me a drink. The truth is I have never really had a chance to drink alcohol and normally I would have refused but I was tired of Kiara ignoring me. I gulped down the drink which burned my throat. Arrghh what was this stuff?

"Well, well Alan I gotta say I'm impressed. Artemis has been talking about you nonstop and oh I'm Mathew by the way. My family owns this place," The guy who was sitting with Drew said. He looked like he was twenty and he was well built. His hair was cut in a neat fade.

"Ahh, thanks for the invitation," I said my throat a bit sore from the devil's drink.

"A, this is my crew let's have fun ok? Come and sit with us, " Artemis said as she grabbed my hand. I plopped on the couch next to her and took another drink. I was gonna regret this.

"So Alan don't you miss home?" Drew asked

"Not really. I enjoy traveling a lot so yeah I don't mind."  That was a lie. I did mind but I would never admit that. I didn't see Kiara the whole day at school today and I was in a......wait a minute! How did she even come into my mind?

I don't remember how I spent the evening but I'm sure I locked lips with someone. I danced with girls and I might have played truth or dare. I'm not sure. I woke up in the big bedroom and I was shocked to see Drew sleeping next to me. I'm dead.

I grabbed my phone and checked the time. Nine in the morning! Shit! Not to mention the terrible headache. I quickly got dressed and tried to call Kiki to come and pick me up but she didn't pick me up. Damn her! I called my mom's driver and told him the location. I rushed outside to wait for him which was kinda difficult since the place was so huge.

I got lost three times and I kept tripping on sleeping people in the corridors. After what felt like an eternity I found the door and I was glad I didn't see Artemis. After twenty minutes the driver was there and God bless his soul he had brought me painkillers. I knew mom wouldn't mind me sleeping out.

I took a shower as I got to the hotel and ordered room service. I tried to make music but I couldn't. I went back to my room and grabbed my car keys or her car keys. At first, I didn't know where I wanted to go but after an hour I found myself in front of a huge mansion.

I said a silent prayer and got out of the car. I walked to the large front doors which automatically opened. Wow! I met Miss Carrie in the hallway.

" Hey Alan, is everything ok. You look sick," She stated.

"I'm ok thanks. Is Kiara home? I need to talk to her."

"Yeah, just go upstairs the first door on your left is her workshop. She is in there. Oh, where are my manners, can I get you something to eat or drink?"

"No thanks I'm ok ma'am," I said and Carrie left me.

I climbed the stairs one at a time. What was I gonna say to her? Why was I mad at her? I just had to know why she was ignoring me. I knocked at the door that was supposedly her workshop. No answer. Maybe I should just go back. As I was about to turn back the door opened revealing a Kiara clad in overalls.

"Alan! what are you doing here?" Wow just wow?

"Hello, Kiki how are you? Good to see you too," I ignored her and went inside what seemed to be an architect's office. The walls were covered in neat drawings of buildings and a large desk took most of the space in the room. It was also covered with boxes of crayons, building prototypes, and more drawings.

"Drop the tone Walker ok? Why are you here?"

"Why aren't you picking my calls? I tried calling you several times but you didn't answer," I shouted.

"Can't be the fact that Scott nearly expelled me yesterday when he found out that I wasn't gonna be tutoring you right? Or the fact that you sent a message telling me not to disturb you and the fact that you kiss.... You know what never mind," Kiara screamed at me.

What was she talking about?

"What message are you talking about?  I never sent a message and what do you mean you were almost expelled? Please explain ok."

She took out her phone and handed it to me.

Alan: hie I will be busy after school so please don't call me. See you tomorrow.

Whaaaaaat! I never sent such a message oh hold on Artemis. Shit! I had to clear things with Kiara.

"I didn't send that but Artemis did and..."

"Oh wow, now she even uses your phone just get out Alan."

"Will let me finish please I told you that she borrowed my phone and....."

"Just drop it, Alan. I get it you have new friends and....." I don't know what came over me. It might be the fact that her hair looked so beautiful in it's its the natural curly state. It might the fact that it might have been something I considered doing ever since I saw her for the first time in Scott's office.

I kissed her and she responded to my kiss. I closed my eyes as her soft lips touched mine and I felt my heart melting and beating fast as I closed my eyes and enjoyed the moment.
