First I would like to take back my words about this place being horrible and that chances of me liking it were slim as the chances of me getting married to Kiara. I was starting to like it here. It might not be home but it was awesome. The locals were cool and they liked talking to tourists.
It was mid-October but it was way hotter and according to the forecast, it was time for the rains to come. Wow! Where I come from we would be expecting winter and snow and all that yet here it was summer.

It's been almost a week since I got here and for the first time, I was not thinking about going back home. I'm not sure I would be ready to leave after three months. Anyways after dropping her off yesterday I had the sudden urge to do something crazy. Never mind that. After a long time playing with my phone I decided to send her a text and her response caught me off guard. I couldn't stop smiling after her text and it took me a long time to get to sleep. I woke up early and as a result, I got to her place early where the kind lady offered me breakfast. If I thought her house was beautiful on the outside then the inside was paradise. Again I was surprised to learn that she lived alone in this modern mansion.

I wondered who her parents were and what they did because they were loaded. Her situation was similar to mine in some way. I was always wandering around the world with my mom. I lived from hotels most of the time and I don't remember when I had ever had a normal meal, most probably never. It was always room service and it's not that I was not intelligent at school. I changed schools regularly and that made it difficult to keep up with school work. Being in her place reminded me of my life in some way. The house was beautiful but it wasn't home. I was rich too thanks to my mom but I had no home. Does that even make sense?

As I sat eating breakfast at her home I had a sudden longing for a stable home. I came out of my thoughts when I heard Miss. Carrie greeting Kiara and she had called her "kiki".  I was so gonna enjoy teasing her with that name. Without her usual gear which was hot in some way, Kiara looked cute in her school uniform. More like a student than a rebel and she was in a neat bun which left her caramel skin clear. Was I checking the psycho out? But who wouldn't? She might have a few loose screws but she was awesome, in her own crazy Kiara way. Another shocker? When she gathered her bags and I noticed a drawing board. She was a student after all.

I had brought my car or my mom's car because I wanted her to drive it. I was doing what she had done to me and it had worked. Somehow exchanging cars with her was like having a silent agreement which we both weren't so sure about. I wanted to go with her to the assembly but we ran into Artemis and Kiara left me with her.

" You know Alan you shouldn't hang around with the likes of her. She is a trouble that one I mean you have no choice because of the whole arrangement with Scott but you don't have to be with her all the time, "Artemis noted as soon as Kiara was out of earshot. How did she know all that stuff about me?

Did that come with being a Head girl or what?

"Come I will introduce you to my crew. I'm sure you will get along fine with them," She continued and I followed her.

Her crew consisted of all the popular kids I guess. From Drew who was the captain of the soccer team to Rajesh who also held a high position in the school. Her girlfriends were the cliche cheerleader type. Blonde, slim, and perfect but they were not Kiara. It was more like a selection of cool people gathered together and I'm not sure how I felt about that. There were six of them in total. Three boys Drew, Rajesh, and Mike, and three girls, Artemis, Alana, and Kim. They all introduced themselves and invited me to hang out with them from then onwards.

"There is a party tonight at Matthew's place and he invited all of us to attend, you can come, Alan, it will be so much fun," Alana purred and I wanted to roll my eyes. This girl was so not my type with her skimpy uniform and overused makeup.

"Can I think about it, I have something going on after school, how about some other time?" I asked but they were not about to take no for an answer.

"Come on man it's at this resort near the game farm and it's gonna be lit like every dope kid in town is gonna be there and trust me the chicks from Townsend high are dope," Drew piped and I agreed.

"Ok, cool but I won't stay long I have to do something important," I lied ok maybe not lied but I was planning on going lion walking or bungee jumping with Kiara.

"Let's hope it doesn't involve that Adams girl. She is trouble," Alana said in distaste and Artemis nodded in an I  told you so way.

"Yeah she thinks she is better than all of us because of her brains and rich dad," Rajesh who had been quiet all along said and I felt bad. I had to defend Kiara in some way but I just kept quiet whilst these kids were bad-mouthing her.

"Umm, I should probably go. See you guys later," I rushed and left them. I went to the great hall and it was getting fully packed with students since there were only three minutes left until the assembly started.

It was hard to locate Kiara but I noticed her at the back with her headphones on and she was drawing something in her sketchbook. She looked so cool doing that and I went in her direction. The bad news was that some guy sitting next to her was busy checking her out and I had to pay him for him to find another seat.

"You didn't save me a seat Kiki," I accuse her and she asks;

"How did you find me anyway?"

"You are famous so it was easy but I had to pay the kid sitting next to you so I could have this seat."

"Poor you...." But she doesn't finish her sentence because at that moment Scott's voice booms in the mic from the podium.

"Settle down students. First of all good morning. I'm so glad to see that you are all wearing your school uniforms and looking good."

"What is this? Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry." Kiara mumbles and I try by all means not to laugh. She always has something to say and that makes her cool. Scott doesn't seem to notice as he continues to talk.

"I have an important announcement today," Scott continues  "we will have a consultation day where we will be inviting your parents on a one-on-one meeting with teachers. To make sure that they got this message the school decided to email them individually. So make sure all your work is in order and that you don't have a bad record because we will be telling your folks everything about you." Uh oh. This is bad news and as if to confirm my thoughts Kiara tenses beside me. I might have just gotten to this school but I did not need a Consultation day.

I already had detention with Kiara not to mention my horrible grades (not my fault) but my mom was gonna attend. Imagine walking around with your uptight mom around the school. Not the look I was aiming for. In my lessons with Kiara, Well we hadn't exactly been doing much this week and I was hoping that I would at least catch up with her during the weekend. What did she even do during weekends?

After the Assembly, Kiara left me to go to her Technical Graphics class, and for the first time, I noticed that I will miss her in class.

"Hey, Alan, let's go together I also take music on Fridays," Artemis comes rushing to me and I just nod.

"So are you ready for tonight's party? It's Friday and you need to loosen up and meet new people Alan it will be fun I promise."

"I hope so too which musical instruments do you play Artemis?" I ask because she doesn't strike me as the music type of person.

"Oh, I'm still learning the violin," She quickly changes the topic.

"So you and Adams? You guys a thing or?"

"It's not like that she is just helping me with my studies that's all," I say and I see Artemis frowning.

"What's wrong?"

"Can I borrow your phone? Mine just ran out of battery I need to send a message to Drew?"

"Yeah sure," I agree and hand her my phone. She quickly types something and hands it back.

"Thanks, Alan. Let's go" She grabs my hand and I pull it back. What is wrong with Artemis? It almost seems like she hates Kiara. Beep! beep! I take out my phone to see a message from Kiara.

Kiara: it's ok Alan see you Monday ✌.

Huh??? Did I say something to her?.
