Chapter Fifteen : Alan

Mom drove me to school which was awkward because I had never spent so much time with her. I wanted to text Kiara but I knew mom would start questioning me again and giving suggestions on how to confess. As of things couldn't be any worse when we arrived at school the first person I met was Artemis who was walking with her parents.

I was trying by all means to be invisible but no such luck. She spotted me and came running to hug me in front of my mom. Her parents didn't even bother stopping as they continued to head to the great hall where the meeting was gonna be held.

"Hey, babe I missed you," She whispered in my ear.

"What are you doing," I whispered back and I could swear that she smirked.

"Oh don't worry about that, just wait for lunch."

She pulled out of the hug to greet my mom who looked annoyed. "You must be Alan's mom I can tell by your beauty. Nice to meet you"

"Thank you, it was nice meeting you but we have to go." Mom said grabbing my hand. What the hell was going on? I followed mom too well I don't know but she let go of my hand when we reached the great hall.

"That's not Kiara is it?" Mom glared at me.

"No, mom that's just Artemis the head girl and leader of everything in this school," I said. Mom hugged me and left me. Why had she reacted like that with someone she hardly knew? My mom was never rude. I left for my maths class and I was shocked to see Kiara already sitting at the back listening to her headphones. There were a few students who were just chatting in class as I made my way to the back seat to her. She looked up and smiled when she saw me which made me want to kiss her like crazy. We still hadn't addressed the issue of the party but I knew we had to get past that.

"Hey, Kiki," I said taking a seat next to her.

"Hey, hey how was it driving with your mom cause I have a headache from driving with my parents." She said.

"Someone is cranky today, do you need me to hug it better?" I winked and she rolled her eyes. I decided to keep my word and moved my seat closer to hers then enveloped her in a hug. At first, she was startled and tried to move away but she finally gave in.

"Feel better now?" I asked still hugging her not minding the fact that we were in class and showing PDA.

"Much better thanks," She answered still hugging me.

"Hmmm-Hmm you seem to be getting a lot of hugs today Alan," Artemis coughed. We pulled away from the hug and Kiara glared at Artemis and her crew.

"Kiara Adams, I just saw your mom and dad today and I gotta say it must be nice having loaded parents," Rajesh said as If it was a crime.

"What do you guys want because you are not here to talk about how rich Kiara's parents are right?" I asked.

Artemis took on my left and her crew left for their other classes. I didn't know she was also in advanced maths class. "You are right about that Alan but why don't we just wait for lunch." She with a smile.

What was going on with her and lunch? Kiara chose to ignore her today. I ignored Artemis and continued talking and laughing with Kiara. Fortunately, I only had one class with Artemis and before I knew it, it was almost time for lunch not that I was looking forward to it. Miss Williams dismissed me early and told me to go to Scott's office.

I found Kiara sitting there as if she owned the place busy typing on her phone. I was also shocked to see Artemis glaring at Kiara as she tried, by all means, to appear perfect.

"Alan I'm so glad you could join us please take a seat," Scott said motioning for me to sit. I looked at Kiara who just shrugged her shoulders and glared at Artemis.

"Now that we are all here we can begin," Scott continued, " Miss Artemis was telling me that Alan has been in detention thanks to Kiara over here. Now I just....." He didn't finish the sentence as Kiara burst out laughing.

"Oh, I get it Art you played that card huh? So you came here and told the principal that I was a bad tutor and I'm betting that you are the one who will tutor Alan now right?" She asked and I froze. Damn Artemis.

"Watch it, Kiara! I told you that if you mess up again then you will be..."

"Expelled, yeah yeah, I get it but I did nothing here," Kiara said. Most students dreaded the principal's office but Kiara looked so comfortable whilst I on the other hand watched the exchange in horror. Artemis decided to intervene.

"You made Alan get detention because.."

"No, she didn't I was the one laughing and talking during class. I made her get detention." I said.

"All that doesn't matter now because I have already decided that Artemis here will tutor you, Alan. No negotiations." Scott said. "This is all Kiara's fault."

"Yes along with global warming and all other catastrophes that endanger human species," Kiara muttered rolling her eyes which caused me to snicker.

"Kiara I swear to God one more word from you and I'm calling your parents. Now if there are no objections..."

"You said your dec..."

"KIARA GET OUT OF MY OFFICE NOW!" Scott barked and Kiara left.

I was mad at Artemis for doing what she did but I realized that she wouldn't stop if I just kept arguing with her. I needed a plan to get rid of her for good. Scott told me to fix an appointment with her and to avoid Kiara. I wasn't gonna do that. After what seemed like a year I was told to study at Artemis house after school which I politely declined by offering to study at school.

I left the office in a hurry to go and look for Kiara. I found her sitting alone at her table in the cafeteria digging into her lunch as if the world depended on it.

"How can you eat at a time like this?" I joked taking a seat next to her.

"I need my strength to defeat that wicked witch. I should have known she would resort to this. Damn her."

"Why does she hate you? Is it because.." I didn't finish my sentence when Kiara stood up and ran into some guy's arms.

"Shane, you are back." She said hugging him tightly. I felt my heart sink. Who was this guy?

"I told you to wait for lunch didn't I?" Artemis said standing next to my chair.
