OLIVIA'S POV:
"Liv"
I shook his hand as I introduced myself. His skin was so soft against mine. Something about the way he held onto my hand sent butterflies through me. I hadn't had that feeling in the longest.
"Nice to meet you, Liv" he said, giving me a small grin that sent my stomach into a frenzy.
"Likewise, Grayson" I said, keeping my eyes on him whilst I took a sip of hot chocolate. Playing it cool had always been my strong suit but I felt nervous around him. Whether it was a good or bad nervous was still yet to be decided.
"So, are you from around here?" I asked him, setting my paper cup on the table.
"Actually, no" he said, clearing his throat and sitting up straight "I'm from New York, I live in an apartment with my friends, Lexi and Michael"
"I love New York" I said, a smile growing on my lips. He returned the smile, leaning forward a little.
"Why don't you let me give you the grand tour, V?"
His voice was deep and raspy. When he spoke something set off inside of me, making me so nervous but I decided that I loved it. I leaned forward in my chair, bringing my face closer to his.
"V?" I repeated the strange nickname he'd given me in the extremely short matter of seconds we'd known each other. He nodded, his eyes fixated on me.
"What are you waiting for, Gray?"
A smirk appeared on his face as he stood up, taking my hand and leading us both out of the restaurant.
TRIXIE'S POV:
I opened the front door to my house, the scent of alcohol clouding my nostrils as I stepped in. Something had definitely happened.
"Dad? Mom?" I called but there was no answer from either parties. I sighed and closed the door behind me, leaving my jacket on. I didn't plan to stick around here.
I walked into the kitchen to see Dad leaning over the sink, his eyes closed and an empty bottle of whisky next to his arm. He noticed me and shook his head.
"I can't do this anymore"
I looked at Dad, becoming nervous as he took a deep breath, closing his eyes. This divorce was the end of the world for him & it didn't seem as if Mom cared.
"Maybe you should get out the house" I said "you don't need to be here"
"Why don't you?!"
I jumped when he yelled at me before nodding my head slowly. I didn't understand why he was lashing out at me when I hadn't done anything.
"I'm sorry, Trix-"
"Your issue is with Mom, remember that" I said harshly. I started walking towards the door when Dad let out a sob. I took a deep breath and turned around reluctantly.
"She's going to be the death of me" he cried, wiping his eyes. I sighed, handing him a tissue.
"She's hurt, Dad" I said "she held a marriage down for years for you to throw it back in her face the way you did"
"It was an accident"
"You knew exactly what you were doing" I said with a firm tone. He splashed his face with cold water as I spoke. He probably couldn't even hear me.
"I get it" he said, standing up straight "are you staying?"
He looked down at me but I shook my head. I felt guilty for leaving him when he was such a state. But I had my own life to worry about too. He mumbled something about me being similar to Mom but I ignored him and went to grab some snacks instead.
I passed through the hallway, looking upstairs to see their bedroom door closed.
"Annoying" I muttered, walking out the house. Hendrix gave me a smile as I got back into his car but I didn't have the energy to return it.
"You okay, baby?" he asked, his hand setting on my thigh as I handed the snacks to Daisy.
I shook my head, looking down as I blinked back tears. I felt a lump in my throat as Hendrix started the engine, using one hand on the wheel to reverse or my driveway.
"What happened?" he asked. I glanced back at Daisy, she was too engrossed in her shows to listen.
"Same old shit" I sighed, wiping my eyes with my sleeve. Hendrix knew. Every night. When it was just the two of us. I'd just cry and cry about how broken my family was. He listened all night long.
If that's not soulmates, then I don't know what is.
