despite the large number of balls you have attended your eyes couldn't help but sparkly at the surroundings.

an orchestrated band, large chandeliers, elegant dresses and handsome princes. tonight's ball was luxurious as the painted walls clashed against the golden furniture and decorations, creating a beautiful peace in the room.

your eyes continue to wander, slowly moving further into the large room with the moon beaming down on your face from the small slits in the red curtains. that was until you noticed a pair of turquoise eyes fixed on your face.

he stood, proud and tall in the middle of the strait case, overseeing the bustle below of the guests. slowly, he began to walk down the steps keeping his eyes locked onto yours as if he'd lose you the moment he glanced away.

the way you looked at the moon with such tenderness, the love you held in your (e/c) eyes it was easy to say he was mesmerised. many he walked past kept their eyes on him, watching with jealousy as he continued walking your way.

a small smile makes its way to his face, eyes filled with warmth as he looks at you closer noticing the smaller details on your face he couldn't see from above.

"enjoying the night's festivities, ms?"

his face was similar to those of gods you would read in books and see in paintings, a chiselled face with stunning eyes that could make anyone fall to their knees.

he noticed the way you continued to stare, eyes looking deep into his. a small chuckle leaves his mouth as he shakes his head, attempting to hide his embarrassment.

"apologies ms, for not introducing myself."

you laugh at his apology, finding it unnecessary when all those around knew of him.

"you don't need an introduction, prince akaashi."

he lets out another small chuckle, realising to yourself you're already getting used to the sound.

"that's very kind of you. do you mind if i ask for your name ms?"

your (s/c) hand reaches out to him, allowing it to hand by the wrist politely,

"(l/n) (y/n)."

you speak out with pure grace and elegance, a charming smile on your face and raised eyebrows finding this situation needlessly amusing.

his hand reaches out to yours and holds onto it softly, bringing your knuckles up to his pink lips and placing a gentle kiss upon them, maintaining eye contact while he does so and watching rose spread through your cheeks.

"well then ms (l/n), may i have this dance?"

your name rolling off his tongue sent shivers down your spine, alerting you of the control the handsome prince already has over you. you allow him to keep his hand in yours, leading you towards the centre of the ballroom at the change of songs.

the contempt smile on his face stays as his hand is placed against your hip, other hands connected by palms.

multiple songs pass, both of you moving together in perfect harmony to the tune. your steps are weightless. music muted in your ears. your eyes constantly met each other's, twinkling with stardust while you swayed together.

slowly, as the moon rises further the music comes to a stop, quiet horns sounding at the end of the ball as guests begin to walk out of the large doors begin you.

your wide eyes meet his once again, longing and love being the only thing you can sense.

akaashi retracts his hold from yours and moves his hands to the collar falling around his neck,

"i hope to dance with you again ms (l/n)."

"as do i, prince akaashi."

your gown twirls as you spin to turn around, moving out of the doors and leaving the prince watching you leave him in the centre of the empty ball.

your heels slip off your feet as you step onto the small carriage awaiting you, surrounded by familiar faces you've seen all too many times.

the heels in your hand are thrown into the carriage floor, the dark interior instantly contrasting the brightness of the ball before.

"how was the ball?"

the white and grey-haired boy beside you speaks up, his voice instantly showing his discomfort from being pushed against the door of the carriage from your obnoxiously large dress.

"it was fine bo."

"ha, i bet it was a lot of fun, kitten. get the information we needed?"

the snarky boy speaks up from across you, a smirk playing on his lips while he sat beside his long-haired friend, too busy reading the book in his hands to pay attention to you all.

"shut up kuroo."

your eyes move to the window, watching the castle you were in moments ago get smaller and smaller, slowly disappearing behind the tall trees.

how could someone so charming be the enemy?
