it took some persuasion but he finally gave in.

ukai keishin has been getting pestered by the karasuno alumni for a year now, begging him to go on a date with a new girl they found every week or so.

of course, the majority of the time it ended in a disaster. on the first date the girl talked nonstop about her ex-boyfriend leaving ukai to awkwardly comfort the crying girl. another date seemed to be obsessed with marriage and kids as soon as possible, scaring ukai away as another got way too drunk early on and revealed some secrets you wouldn't want your blind date to reveal...

it's fair to say that the alumni didn't have the best track record in choosing dates for the now volleyball coach but that didn't drop them from calling him every week with a new name. it was almost like a game to the. who could get the undatable ukai keishin a girlfriend?

now he just outright ignores them all. finding it best to forget about dating and focus on his shop and team. this, however, didn't stop his mother from constantly reminding him of his growing age, raging about how she wanted grandchildren.

finally deciding to end this all he confronted his friends who were most known for setting him up on these failures of dates.

"shimada, takinoue... this has to end..."

"ugh! i told you this was gonna happen shimada!"

"okay, okay. let's make a deal ukai."

"... a deal?"

"yes, a deal. we set you up on one more date and then we will ensure everyone leaves you alone mhmm?"

ukai sees this as his only way out. all he has to do is sit through one night with some girl and then he never has to go through the blind dates ever again.

"deal."

-----

although ukai has been tempted to ruin the date on purpose, turning up in his pyjamas and slippers hoping the girl would leave as soon as possible a condition his friends were quick to add as he had to at least try.

all he knows are the girl's basic features and what she's wearing.

"ah hey, you must be ukai-san! c'mon i've got us a table over here."

looking over his shoulder he sets his eyes upon the girl he assumes. not to be rude but she didn't take his breath away. not even when they started talking.

she was a friend of a friend of his friend and didn't have much in common. was this really the girl they chose for their last chance? the conversation was dull and dry as both adults tried desperately to savour what little of this date they could.

towards the end of the date, both realised this just wasn't working out. once the bill had been paid, split by both parties, they said their goodbyes, not even hinting to see each other again and went their own ways. just as ukai was about to follow his date's direction to the exit of the restaurant to head home, he saw a balcony outside the restaurant and saw this as the perfect opportunity to rewind after the horrific past few hours he had to sit through awkward silence.

opening the doors of the balcony the moonlight shines on his face, brightening his features and adding a shine to his piercings. compelling unaware of the amused girl in the corner he reaches into his jacket pocket to pull out a cigarette and just as he's about to light it he finally notices the girl on the balcony with him as she speaks up.

"smoking kills ya know."

scoffing he hastily replies,

"well, i just had a pretty shit date so i could use a rewind."

"ah me too. my friends have been setting me up with random guys for years now but it'll never work."

she glides over next to where he is standing leaving over the balcony and joins him in gazing at the tops of the houses in eyesight across miyagi. finally, as he turns over he can truly see her beauty. the moon highlights every 'imperfection' she may have but they really don't seem that way while he stares at her under the stars.

"my friends are doing the same actually. we made a deal that this would be my last one then they'd leave me alone."

"ha, that sounds great actually. wish mine would give in that easily. well how was the last date then?"

"dull."

the girl chuckles, tucking her head further over the bannister, her hair along over her face as she bright herself back up to look at him while his face is dusted with pink.

"how about we celebrate together then? i could be your last date? make it a bit more memorable?"

ukai's face turns a much darker shade of red, in his mind knowing if she brings it up he'll either blame it on alcohol or the cold air.

"that sounds great uh...?"

"(y/n) (l/n)."

"ukai keishin. well then shall we?"

he opens the balcony door for you with one hand while mockingly bowing over and gesturing for you to exit with his other hand,  grinning cheekily at you.

"why thank you, kind sir."

everyone in the restaurant just sat back and watched as the two people they saw with horrendous blind dates, walk out hand in hand laughing over each other jokes.

one of the waiters turns to his friend and whispers in their ear,

"i ship it."

-----

"we meant for that to happen."

"BULLSHIT!"

"nope. we arranged all of this."

"yes, he's correct it all went to plan."

"UGH!"
