Chapter Four- A Chance At Survival

''Wake up.''  his voice, as clear as day--maybe even clearer than that--rang in her ears. '' You have to wake up.''

Olivia slowly opened her eyes and wasn't surprised when she saw that this place--it wasn't actually a place, just infinite darkness--was not Valentine's ship. ''Where am I?'' she asked aloud, knowing that she wasn't alone and that the dream boy was here with her. ''Am I dead?''

''No.''

She spun around and came face to face with the dream boy. ''I am not dead?''

He didn't say anything, just started at her as if he was seeing her for the very first time. ''No,'' he finally replied, ''No,  you aren't dead.''

''Then why am I here? And why are you here?''

''To remind you to not give up. You  promised yourself that you will live, didn't you? So don't quit, don't give up. Whatever Valentine is doing to you, fight against it.''

Olivia frowned in shock and surprise. ''How do you know about Valentine?''

The boy smiled a soft smile. ''You and I have many things in common-''

''Liv.'' a voice--Clary's voice--suddenly echoed around them. ''Liv, please wake up.''

''Clary.'' Olivia inhaled and frantically looked around. Her sister was calling out to her, she had to leave this place, she had to go back to the land of the living, even if it meant that she had to sustain the experiments that Valentine was going to do on her.

''--But, as I can see, now is not the time to talk about them.'' the boy finished, his eyes dimming with what Olivia thought--no, not thought, felt-- was sorrow. ''I am sorry,'' she apologized, though had no idea why or for what she was apologizing.

''Don't be. You have your own things to deal with.'' he slowly looked up and down her, his gaze becoming curious as he brought his eyes back up to her face. '' And it won't be fair of me to put my issues on you.''  he added and then placed his hands on her shoulders before looking deep into her eyes and whispering, ''Wake up.''

Olivia woke up with a jolt and then winced as a strong ache started attacking the back of her head. Groaning at the growing discomfort, she cursed under her breath and tried to sit up straight but a sharp pain in her body had her again slumping back into her chair-- which had started to feel more like a prison and less like a chair.

Exhaling, she slowly moved her stiff neck from side to side and then finally focused her eyes--and attention--on the figure that was kneeling in front of her. ''Clary,'' she uttered and blinked. The girl wasn't surprised at seeing her sister kneeling in front of her--she somehow already knew that  Clary was near her--but was confused about how she had managed to come out of her prison. ''How are you here? Dot had--'' she paused, and without turning her head, sensed that Dot was hiding among the shadows.
