Eden's POV

She kissed me and it was as if, for a moment, every little worry in my mind had stopped, as though Bea could chase every single anxiety I had clutched onto for so long right into the ground. She then seemed to stamp on those worries even more, as her hands cupped by cheeks and deepened the kiss.

I had kissed boys before- small, meaningless kisses. They had been nice enough, but this was something else entirely.

It was kissing a girl that made my heart feel as though it was where it finally belonged.

This made all of the other kisses fade away into a world of insignificance.

In that moment, all that truly mattered was her.

And I knew that it went against conventions to kiss a girl that you had previously considered an enemy. However, that was plainly the point.

Bea wasn't my enemy. She never could be. She was my best friend.

At least, I knew now, with certainty in my heart, that I wanted her to be.

I wanted her to be my best friend and so much more.

When Bea pulled back from the kiss, we both released soft laughs. We were both more than a little breathless.

"Well, Bea, I think you've proven your point. Turns out, you really don't hate me," I said.

Bea shook her head a little in amusement and then moved forward to press her body against mine. Her sweet lips found my own again and she wrapped her arms around me, as she continued to kiss me with all the care in the world.

This was different from kissing those boys, for sure. This was infinitely better.

When she pulled back, her eyes searched mine momentarily.

She then wrapped her arms around me and I closed my eyes and relaxed into her warm embrace.

She fell back against her sleeping bag and I rested on top of her.

"Can you sleep next to me tonight?" I whispered quietly, into her shirt.

"Yes," she said back and I could hear the smile in her voice. She gently traced the tips of her fingers up and down my spine, soothing me completely, as the two of us sat there in the warmth and quiet of our little tent. "I want nothing more than to be with you, Eden. I like you."

"You do?" I asked, moving back a little so I could catch her gaze again.

Her eyes were entirely sincere.

"I do," she said. "I can't hide that from you. I do like you, Eden. I really, really like you."

I felt my smile grow. It was going to hurt my cheeks at one point or another, but I hardly cared.

"I really, really like you too," I replied.

"You do?" It was her turn to ask that question, now.

"I do," I replied.

I knew that there was so much more that I wanted to say to her, but it was going to have to wait for now.

There was soon a tap at the entrance to the tent and I gently moved off Bea.

She exhaled with some impatience.

I felt the corner of my mouth twitch in response to her reaction.

"Who is it?" she called out.

"It's dinner time. I didn't want you two to miss it," the other voice called back, one that I recognised as Ren's.

Bea turned to me and spoke. "Ren- she says it's dinner time."

"We'll be there!" I called back and promptly made my way out of the tent.

Bea followed suit and the two of us soon made our way over to the others again.

Axel's eyes glanced between the two of us, when we arrived again, with some curiosity.

However, he was going to have to keep on wondering.

It would be fine for Bea to tell him, when she was ready, but for now it was sort of thrilling to know that it was a secret we could keep between the two of us.

Mr. King soon entered the scene, so that he could give us the 'goodbye' speech for the whole camping trip.

"I am very proud of you students. You have achieved so many things to be proud of during your time here! I can only imagine that the school will be very proud of you, too."

Shortly thereafter, Bea came to sit down beside me, as she finished off her chicken burger.

Once she was done, she turned to speak to me again.

"So, what would your dad think about you..." she trailed off, but I could tell she was going to add a 'liking girls', or something along those lines, onto the end of that question. She just didn't want to out me to everyone, which I appreciated wholeheartedly.

One day, I would be ready. Not any time soon, though. However, for her, I could make the exception.

"He would probably react better than my mother," I said. "I'll tell him one day, Bea. I promise," I said.

Her eyes reflected her understanding and she soon gave a gentle nod of her head.

"The coaches are going to be here soon. We should go and pack up," she said.

I nodded in agreement and the two of us soon wandered back to our tent.

Taking the tent down was much easier than putting it up had been. That much was for certain.

When we had taken the tent down, it was soon time to return to the coach with our luggage.

The two of us made our way over to it and promptly boarded it.

After all of the students were sat down again, the coach could begin to travel back in the direction of the academy.

"Are you tired?" Bea asked me, as the two of us sat down next to each other.

"A little. I'll stay awake this time. Probably," I said, with the hint of a smile.

Some amusement flickered in Bea's gaze. She pulled two sets of earphones and handed one of them to me.

"Wait..." I said, with sudden realisation.

She simply winked.

"I don't think I'll need these," I said.

"No?" she replied.

"No. Listening to you is better than music," I said simply.

She smiled and nodded and then put the earphones away.

The two of us talked all the way back to the academy. After all, we had a lot to catch up on.
