Y/N'S POV

It was cold as I walked home from shopping, I shivered as I followed the path. The morning light shone through the trees, only the sound of my feet hitting gravel could be heard. I was hoping to be home before Gretchen wakes up, I want to surprise her with breakfast in bed.

I turn around quickly when I hear some leaves cracking behind me, seeing nothing I turn around to continue again. Typical me and my overly paranoid mind, always thinking there is somethi-

Weiss: "Y/N"

I turn around only to see them standing there, covered in blood as Gretchen was held up by Yang, my heart constricting at the sight. I drop the groceries and hold my ears closed to drown out their voices, with my eyes slammed shut I turn around.

Gretchen: "Y/N"

It sounded like she was right over my shoulder, confused and shocked I turn around...only to see her corpse lying in the middle of the path alone, alone and bloodied.

Y/N: "AHHHH" I scream out as I jump up.

I frantically look around as I see that I'm in my living room with Ruby, I clutch my chest as the anxiety makes it feel like I'm about to have a heart attack.

Ruby: "Y/N...Y/N look at me." She says calmly as she looks me in the eyes and puts her hands on my checks.

My breathing slows as the pain in my chest starts to go down again, Ruby pulls me in into her embrace and puts my ear up against her heart.

Ruby: "Everything is alright Y/N, I'm here and I'm not letting anybody near you." She whispers to me.

Y/N: "I-I...I had that nightmare again." I whisper as tears streamed down my face.

Ruby: "Don't think about it, everything is fine, you're here safe with me."

She held me for the next 5 minutes as she gently swayed back and forth, when I had finally calmed down she stood up and turned the lights on.

Ruby: "You just stay here okay? I'm gonna get you some of your favorite snacks and some ice, then we can watch some TV together."

I just nod and she goes to the kitchen to get everything together, I just lean back as my mind attempts to put itself together again.

Years ago, before Ruby, I had another wife called Gretchen Rainart, she was my everything and we lived happily together in a house we bought that was a dirt path away from a settlement outside Vale. She didn't care that living with me meant that she would be isolated from the rest of the world, we had each other and that was all that mattered.

We lived isolated from everyone we previously knew outside Vale because they all turned their back on me, they just instantly abandoned me. The Foundation for Law and Government or F.L.A.G. for short was an organization that my father worked for, they ended up fucking him over and when a mission he did for them ended up killing him they didn't give a damm...

I once broke into one of their warehouses to try and find more information on them and their operatives so I had a better shot at revenge, when I did I found K.A.R.R., someone who had been wronged by the Foundation just like me and my father, deactivated and left to rot away in there. We easily became partners and started to interrupt F.L.A.G.'s business wherever we could while we were both gearing up for our big revenge.

When my friends at Beacon found out that I was planning to take them out, they instantly turned against me, WBY, JNPR, CFVY, even the team that had taken me as their fifth member, Team BRIR, they didn't ask me why I was against them in the first place, they just blindly believed that F.L.A.G. were the good guys and I was in the wrong. I ran from Beacon, promising to myself that their betrayal would not go unpunished.
