I stood inside a fireplace in the kitchen, just like the Burrow. The room was like my mothers room Gloomy, Depressing, but not bland. Along the walls were designs. Ones that ran along the wall and around the corner. Some continued and some had just stopped.

I stepped out of the fireplace dusting off my shoulders and everywhere else that had dust. I looked around the walls as I wondered around the house that I was now in. Every part of the wall had some kind of design but in some parts it was faded.

I stood at the bottom of a staircase debating on going up. Sirius stood beside me, both of us looked at each other as we started walking up the steps. At the top of the steps there was a portrait but it was covered by  a sheet. I reached my hand to pull it off but a small, cold, dry hand grabbed my wrist. A house elf.

"Oh I say don't do that, she won't like you very much and nor do I" The little elf says.

He looks grumpy and sounds it too. Sirius glared down at him as he took his small hand away.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know." I say looking between both of them. "I'm Claire, what's your name?" I ask trying to be on good terms with the elf.

He shakes his head looking at me. His face full of disgust as he let out a scoff before speaking to me again.

"I do not care what your name is you filthy half blood. I could say-" the elf tried spitting out but was rudely interrupted

"Kreature don't you say another word or I'll kill you I swear to it!" Sirius said through his teeth.

He shook his head dragging his feet across the floor walking away. I looked at Sirius mouthing an 'I'm sorry' but he just shook it off. I've met other house elves but they weren't like that one. I used to have my own, she was so pure but I had helped her be free.

I don't think wizards need house elves, it's not fair to them. Harry told me about one, a very kind one he said. I think his name was Dobby but if it's not that then I don't remember. Sirius led me up another flight of stairs and to a bedroom. He opened the door, in the middle was two beds and across was a window.

"This will be your room, I know it's not much but once everything and everyone is settled you can decorate it however you want." He says.

I gave him a smile stepping in the room more. I ran my hand across the first bed feeling the blankets. The window Looked out onto the street below, you could hear and see the cars driving below. Some mumbled conversations from people walking by but not many.

"Thank you Uncle Sirius, honestly." I say walking over to him wrapping my arms around his shoulders.

He hugged me back as my father came into the room. He placed his hand on my back as Sirius and I pulled apart. I finally had a family and not one that was favoring the older child, the more successful child, or the smarter child.

My mother chose favorites and it was never fair. It's in the past now hopefully and some things just need to be let go of or at least try and let go of. We stood in the bedroom talking for a while until now it was just my father and I.

"So any plans for the rest of the day?" He asks sitting next to me on the bed.

"Uh no I don't think I have anything. I may go for a walk just to get to know the area, maybe go find a book store." I tell him.
