When you woke up the next morning the sun was filtering through the window. It was later on in the day than you had expected. The past two nights had been a whirlwind and things were finally calm. To your disappointment, Remus was not in the room. You changed out of your pajamas and headed to the main room.
As you guessed, everyone was already in there. You took a seat next to Remus, who smiled and put an arm around your waist. There was hushed conversation coming from Harry, Ron, and Hermione. They were planning their next move. After dinner last night they had filled you in on everything that had happened up to now. While you were talking to them Harry had a vision. His suspicions were confirmed that Voldemort was going after the Elder Wand. Ron thought Harry had gone mad because of the fact he wasn't going to go after it as well.
However, they decided to ask Griphook for help on their next excursion. They wanted to break into Bellatrix Lestrange's vault. This would be the most challenging thing they'd done so far. Griphook hasn't agreed to help them yet though. Harry assumes he will eventually.
You on the other hand, were not going to go on the next part of this mission. As much as you wanted to go, there was a new reason for you to stay. They promised that when they go to Hogwarts, which Harry said was inevitable, they would somehow tell you. That wouldn't be until after the break-in at Gringotts. Until then you had plenty of time to spend with Remus and the rest of your friends.
"What's on your mind darling?" Remus asked.
"I'm just glad we're all okay and together."
"So am I."
Fleur was in the middle of making lunch when you had come down and she was putting the plates on the tables. The table was awfully cramped, it wasn't suited for that many guests. "Thank you Fleur, this is the first good meal we've had in a while," Ron said. Hermione huffed. She had told you all about Ron's complaining while they were gone. Part of the reason why he was so irritable was because of the necklace but the other half was just Ron.
"Zat ees very kind of you Ron," Fleur told him.
Despite everything that happened in the past 24 hours, everyone seemed to be in high spirits. It was probably because everyone had a roof over their head and good food in their stomachs. Remus especially seemed to be in a good mood. Everytime you looked at him he was already looking at you. He would smile and go back to eating his food afterwards.
Everyone in the house seemed to have a silent understanding of what was going on between you and Remus. No one spoke about it other than Hermione, who would bring it up and ask about it when you talked. Bill and Fleur seemed to be the most happy to see you together more than anyone else, which surprised you. Bill had been attacked by Greyback last year and had werewolf-like tendencies. He seemed to be happy for Remus, finding someone to be with despite his condition. Fleur shared Bill's happiness. She loved Bill despite what happened to him and you loved Remus despite him being a werewolf.
Lunch and dinner passed quietly, everyone keeping to their own rooms for the most part. You and Remus stayed in the bedroom he was occupying and talked.
"I have something to give you. While we were wandering through all those stores a few days ago I saw something I thought you'd like. Hence my disappearance while you were in that last shop." Remus reached into his pocket and held something out in his palm. It was a silver brooch made in the shape of the first letter of your name. It was just like your mothers. "Remus thank you," you said. You wrapped your arms around his neck and he wrapped his arms around your waist.
After a moment he pulled back and kissed your cheek. It felt cold without his arms around you, but soon enough you would be right back in them. You suddenly remembered the gifts you had bought for Remus. Did he bring them? Did he look in the bags?
"When you escaped... did you happen to grab my shopping bags as well?"
"Yes I did," he answered, "And I did not peak in them either."
Good, the surprise wasn't completely ruined. Remus got up and grabbed the two bags which held his gifts. He handed them to you but as soon as he sat down you put them in his lap. "These are actually for you. The whole reason I went was because I wanted to get you a Christmas present."
"Y/N you didn't have to."
"And you didn't have to get me the brooch either but you did. I wanted you to truly experience Christmas with me. I had just accepted my feelings for you and I wanted a way of showing them."
He smiled and pulled the book out of the smaller bag. He laughed, "You know me too well." He set the book down and reached into the other bag, pulling out the sweater. "Thank you Y/N. I love them." He leaned in and gave you a quick peck on the lips. You spent the rest of the night talking about everything under the sun. You eventually fell asleep the same way you had the previous night, in Remus's arms.
