Checking on the Dragons

"We should go check on the dragons Ley." Dak said after finishing eating his food.

"You're right let's go we need to make sure they're ok!" Leyla replied getting up from the table and scooting her chair in.

"I can show you where they are." Lerena said with a grin.

"Thanks Lerena!" Leyla smiled back.

so how long have you been doing this for, and have you talked to Merena at all or do you just not talk to her?" Dak questioned.

"i've been doing this for a while." Lerena answered breaking her smile. Larena sighed, "sadly I haven't talked to Merena in a while, and I don't know what she would think. I left her when we were very young and vulnerable and I just," she looked down at the ground, "truth is, I'm just not ready to face her yet."

"I understand, if I did something like that to Leyla I don't think I wanna talk to her either I'd be too embarrassed!" Dak gave Lerena a reassuring nod.

"But you should still try to talk to her. I bet Merena would love to see a letter from you!" Leyla gave a light smile before heading off with Dak to find the dragons.

"There you guys are!" Dak hugged winger tightly.

"Aggro and I are leaving tomorrow morning." Cutter said.

"You guys can't leave!" Dak yelled, "WE NEED YOU!"

"Calm down Dak!" Leyla patted her brother lightly on the back. "Cutter, you've come a long ways! I remember when we first met you and all you wanted to do was have fun and make jokes."

"You almost didn't want me on the team." Cutter blurred out.

"Yeah. But now, whenever we do rescues, your always so confident, and focused on the task, that we don't even need to tell you to get the job done!" Leyla smiled at Cutter then turned towards Aggro,  "Aggro!  When you first came onto the team, we all thought you were going to eat all the sheep! But it turns out you were just a big softy."

"I'm not soft!" Aggro laughed.

Leyla chuckled, "I think your both ready to be on your own now. Go and get your children back!"

"But what about the Rescue Riders? What about the team?"

"Don't worry we'll manage." Dak replied, "I forgot how far you two have come. I guess I didn't think about what you guys needed. Just thought about what I wanted."

"Thanks Dak!" Aggro hugged him.

Cutter did too, "yeah thanks Dak, thanks to everyone.

"Come in for a group hug," summer out her wings out so everyone could join in, "there's room for you too Burple!"

Burple came pushing his way through everyone until he was in the middle, "this feels nice. And warm too!"

The team laughed. This was going to be a good day.
