The Rescue Runts

Dreams

Dak brought the knife to Leyla's cage, and right up to her stomach.

"Dak-" Leyla tried, but was cut off to the feeling of the knife digging into leyla's skin. Leyla grunted, then cried, then screamed, then cried again, then silence!

Not a sound could be heard. Not even a mouse. Leyla fell to the floor which made a loud thumping sound. Blood pored out of her as she lay on the soggy wet, hard floor.

"She's been out all morning!" Dak said. Looking down at Leyla who was resting on a blanket.

"Is she dead?" Burple asked. He looked back. The new dragons were all playing outside the cave, and he wanted to join, but was concerned about his friend

"No. Just sleeping." Dak replied, "maybe we should wake her though. It's not like Leyla to sleep this long."

"Maybe we should let her sleep a little longer to see if she wakes up!" Summer said.

"Yeah. We can train later." Winger added.

"Ok." Dak said unsure.

Leyla woke up in the cave again.

"Hey Leyla!" Summer said.

"Summ-" Leyla started but was cut off by a ticking sound.

"Tu tu tu!" Leyla smiled. "Don't talk. You know why your here? You know why your giving all these dreams?"

"No!"

"Because your a DISAPPOINTMENT!"

"You really are!" Winger added.

"That's why Cutter and Aggro left! They told me" Burple said.

"STOP!" Leyla tried. "JUST STOP!" Tears started rolling down her face.

"Disappointment" they all changed

"STOP!"

"Stupid!"

"I CAN'T TAKE ANYMORE!" Leyla sobbed.

"Leyla! Such a disgusting name. Like the disgusting person you are!"

"PLEASE! LEAVE ME ALONE!"

"Leyla! Leyla! Leyla! Leyla! How about Deadla!"

"Stop"

...
"Leyla!" Dak shouted. "Leyla wake up!"

"What's wrong?" Summer asked.

"I don't know!" Dak cried. He was scared. Scared that his sister wasn't going to wake up... and then...

Heavy breathing... coughing... more breathing...

Leyla sits up on the little blanked she was using, "Dak, Summer, Burple, Winger?" She said. "I'm sorry!"

"Why?" Dak asked, "what did you do? are you okey?"

"I'm a disappointment to you all!" Leyla broke out into tears moving her body into a tight ball rocking back and forth.

"But your not a disappointment! Why would you think that?" Summer looked at Leyla with curiosity.

"It was in my dream though."

"How long have you been having these dreams?" Dak sat down next to Leyla and held out a hand for her to hold, to which she gripped very tightly.

Leyla came fully out of her cocoon  and looked at Dak with pleading eyes, then the others, then settled back onto Dak's eyes and continuing to speak.

"Since Lerena found us." She said.

"LEYLA!" Dak started, "why didn't you tell us they were that bad. I didn't know you had this many! I only knows about the one."

"I didn't cry when I had those ones." Leyla said fighting back tears. "I thought it'd be okey!"

Summer laid down next to Leyla wrapping her tail around Leyla and Dak. "I'm sorry Ley! You wanna talk about them? It sounds like there was a lot of disappointment in them."

"No." Leyla looked towards the ground, "just that one. And I don't want to talk about it!"

"Ok."

Leyla stood up wiping tears from her face as she turned to look at her friends, "I need to go clear my head."

"Ok. Don't be fine too long. We'll miss you." Winger smiled.

"Thanks! I won't." Leyla walked out of the cave and turned to her left, going further into the forest.

"Ahhh!" Was all the gang heard after Leyla had left.

"Leyla?" Summer said as she ran out of the cave. But there was no sign of Leyla anywhere. The others came out shortly after.

"Krogan!" Dak and Winger both said in unison.

"How do you know?" Burple asked.

"Because! Who else would it have been." Dak answered

"Let's not get to conclusions he-" summer was cut off by Dak.

"We need to take the recruits to Krogan's ship, wherever that might be, and take back our friend. And the babies."

"And what if it turns out it wasn't Krogan?" Summer asked.

"It has to be Krogan. Who else would it be?"

"Sorry Dak. Summer does have a point." Winger sided with Summer.

"And, the recruits aren't even trained." Summer pointed out.

"Look!" Dak pointed to a tall brown tree, with a little piece of purple leather, or dragon scales pined to the tree by a knife. "That looks like Krogan's! I was right."

"Ok fine you were right. We'll pack up today, and leave first thing in the morning." Summer said, "and maybe we can give the recruits some tips."

"Ok, I still don't really like the plan though, but if that's what you guys want." Winger sighed.

"Just to be clear, we're going to somehow break into Krogan's whatever he's using, and take back our friend?" Burple asked.

"Yeah! That's what we're doing." Dak replied.
