There are plenty of ways to avoid problems. The number one way is by not talking about them at all. It's like toxins entering the body but it is better than having those same toxins enter someone else's ears. Majority of the time... no one listens.

"My old man tried to show me out in front of my girlfriend. What do you think of that!" The sound of Erikkson spitting out a loud laugh caused me to jump a little in my seat. I looked over to see that they were watching the video of Cory and his dad playing professional hockey while I struggled to hold on to my life in the background. "No way could I let him embarrass me. His entire hip bone was on the line."

Victor and Josie took a seat at the table and both looked like they had a rough morning. "Not talking to each other again?" I asked Josie who gave me the 'obviously' look. "Alright..." I rolled my eyes while rubbing the chill off my arms. The temperature was dropping at a steady rate outside as winter break neared the corner. That only gave the school an excuse to turn the air conditioner off and pretend the heater is on when someone asks why is it so cold. "Are you going to walk me to class, Cory?"

He looked over his shoulder at me then to the clock on his watch. "It's almost twenty minutes early?"

"I want to study for my test in quiet." He scoffed at my response then continued to show Erikkson some more videos. Tonya arrived just in time to see the encounter and the humiliation all over my face. I turned to ask Victor if he would come with me instead since our classes are in opposite halls from each other. I immediately swallowed my words when I saw the hickey right next to his Adam's apple. "I'll see you guys after school." The smile forced its way across my face without me having to try.

They all waved as I made my way out the cafeteria doors and right into the presence of Cynthia. She barely gave me any of her attention as she passed right through me like I was thin air. I quickly turned around to see her entering the cafeteria and heading right over to our table. My body was telling me to turn around right now and go to class as I was supposed to, but I had to see more. I needed to make sure that what I think was about to happen was not going to happen. But it did.

She snaked her way over and stopped right behind his back. Her hands playfully covered his eyes as she laughed in his ear and he pulled her wrist away from his face causing her to stumble around and land right on his lap. He planted a kiss on her lips and when he pulled away, she planted a kiss on his.

I would have fallen face-first on the tile floor if it weren't for someone bumping into me to get inside the cafeteria which knocked me out of my trance. All the feeling came back to my body within a second but for some reason, my palms were pinging in pain. I couldn't help but look down at them as if I was stung by a bee when in reality, there were specks of blood where it appeared my nails have been. I quickly shoved my hands in my pocket and continued my way to class. I didn't want a reason to go to the nurse and have them call my parents for no important reason.

I stood outside in the windy air as I waited for my dad to show up and get me. He was never this late to the point that all my friends were long gone and I was still planted in the front of the school. Millions of thoughts ran through my head as I stared at the partially empty parking lot. Maybe they finally got it over with and murdered each other to avoid divorce papers. Maybe my mom drove off with the car to run it into a river instead of going to work. The possibilities were endless.

Just before the scenarios could get any worse, I see a brand new and shiny red car with only two seats and my dad sitting right in the driver's seat. My jaw dropped along with a few other students who walked past the new vehicle. I scurried over to get a closer look at what could be my new dream car if I have never thought of one before.
