"A sixty two for missing a few questions- what the hell is that?" Josie turned to watch a car pull into the parking lot with music so loud that it was shaking the ground. We all followed her actions since curiosity got the best of us. "Who is that?"
We got our answer when two people stepped out of the front seat of a red sports car. The boy was tall, short faded hair, and his skin was as smooth as a Hershey bar. The girl who was with him looked just like him except her hair was in a thick bun and she was a few inches shorter. He locked the doors to the vehicle then tossed his keys in the air while the girl caught up to him.
They walked towards the entrance to the school like all eyes weren't on them. He even sent Tonya a wink on his way by her. I think I just wet myself.
"I think I just wet myself," Tonya spoke my thoughts out loud. "Who are they? I have to get to work once again." She dragged her feet up the stairs to go follow them around and pretend to be their guide. When I first met Tonya, she showed me around for one week and once she squeezed all the information out of me, it was like I was a part of the group officially.
Erikkson rolled his eyes as Tonya disappeared into the double doors. "He's an arrogant mother fucker. Did you see the way he just walked out? Chest all puffed out like he can lift three-fifty."
"Someone's ego is hurting," Josie whispered to me which made us laugh. "Calm the fuck down, Erikkson. A tall black man who looks a million times better than you and has expensive taste compared to your Jeep wagon heirloom is not going to replace you. Only because he would have to be on your level for that to happen and he's about ten levels above you." Josie linked our arms and dragged me to the entrance of the school before Erikkson could plead his side of the battle. "That guy is so your type. Unless that girl he pulled up with is like his girlfriend."
I furrowed my eyebrows at her last statement because the real picture was quite obvious. "They're twins," I stated. Josie simply laughed a fake laugh like I was telling a joke. "They look exactly alike. They are identical twins."
"No honey. There are plenty of reasons for that and it's most likely because they have the same parents. She could be a year younger or vice versa, but they are not twins. Victor and I are twins." I rolled my eyes as she carried us to the lunch table where Victor and Cory sat. "I have a question that only Victor can answer because cheaters are just as dishonest as they are nasty." Cory rolled his eyes and went back to his phone game. "You and I are the twins, yes? Like there are two new people and Tahlee here thinks they are twins but even if they are, we are still the twins."
Victor chuckled. "You do know we're hideous right?" Josie grabbed her heart while letting out a loud gasp. "We're not identical. We don't dress or think the same. We hate each other."
"Correction, you're hideous. I've been telling you that wearing sweats to school is a class A crime and you do it anyway. On top of that, I don't hate you. I can't stand you. Also, the only reason we don't think the same is because you have a dick and I have a brain."
When Josie sat down after her rant, I sat down next to her. It didn't take long for the silence to end since we could all hear Tonya from a mile away. "She's with the twins," I pointed. This caused Josie to jump out of her seat and fix her hair. They were coming right over here.
"These are my friends!" Tonya announced once she was close enough. "That is Cory over there. Tahlee, who is the quiet one of the group. This is Josie and Victor who are the fraternal twins of the group. Now everyone I introduce you to Dwane and Danai, the identical twins of the group."
I cracked a smile as Josie cursed under her breath. She quickly turned to me and I could tell she was angry. "They even have the same first letter in their name," she whispered.
"It's nice to meet all of you." Danai had a beautiful smile with straight teeth and I swear I saw one of them sparkle.
Victor looked at her like she was a fairy from heaven and I couldn't blame him. "So... what made you guys up and move halfway through the school year?" He asked while sitting up a little straighter. Danai looked right at him with her faux lashes and glittery brown eyes. "Two weeks until winter break actually."
"Our dad is moving out of the country and we didn't want to go with him so we moved in with our mom. She lives of the upper side of town and private school was a big no for Dwane and I." Her voice was so soft and angelic.
Josie's jaw hit the ground when Dwane looked at her. "How on earth are you two so fucking good-looking. Do you see what kind of people we have around here? Austin Combs runs around the school chasing people with his boogers and you chose this over private school!? The two of you are rich!" Dwane hooked a finger on the corner of his lips and pulled back to show us the diamonds in the back of his mouth. "What!"
"Had to move them for things like job interviews. Never let your smile reveal all of you." He winked at her. Tonya's knees buckled. "Then Danai here got cheek and chin implants." His sister hit him brutally hard on his shoulder and all he did was laugh it off.
"I told you to stop telling people my business. At least I don't have to go to treatments every three weeks to make sure my severe acne doesn't flare up. Oh wait, I don't have severe acne. But you do."
I was lost for words, but I had to say something. "Are you two serious?"
They looked at me then looked at each other. Before I knew it, they were laughing in my face. "No, we're not serious. That's what we say every time someone doesn't believe this is all genetics." Dwane motioned towards their faces. "Every school we go to, people look at us like we're idols."
Danai chuckled. "Let's not forget the good old, you are just so beautiful for a black girl, shall we."
"Or!" Dwane chimed. "You are so articulate." The two continued to laugh but I was having difficulty finding out what was funny. "So Tonya, you told us you were going to help us find our first class?"
"Oh, right. Follow me." Tonya waved goodbye at us as the twins followed her heels.
Josie sat back down in her seat and quickly opened her phone to google tips on how to be better twins. "The internet is an amazing place."
"Did you all hear what they said and how they just... laughed it off."
"Are you mad that they didn't scream at some random kid about being racist?" Cory smirked at me. "Everyone knows those remarks are backhanded, even me, the one who apparently doesn't like black people."
Josie grimaced at him. "Don't you have medicine to be taking for your little problem?" She motioned to his crotch area which made him frown. "I thought so."
"I got over that a week and a half ago. Mind your own business, why don't you." Cory gathered his things and left the table which is something we should all be doing since the bell would be ringing soon.
I looked at the exit to the cafeteria then to Josie and Victor who were face-first on their phones. "Victor? Can you walk me to class?"
Josie looked at him and he quickly nodded. "Of course. We should be headed that way too." Josie rolled her eyes and left us alone. "I know you want to talk about something."
"Uhm... Danai is... really pretty," I tried to swallow any jealousy that emerged when he agreed with me.
"And Dwane is a good-looking guy." I agreed with him back. "I hope that these are things that don't..."
"It won't." I smiled. His hand softly brushed past mine and for a split second I wanted to grab it and hold it and never let it go, but I didn't.
