...where they were greeted by three massive orange-red blobs dropping from the ceiling. Link raised his shield, swiping beneath his defenses at the new entities. Endeavor swiped their blade, muttering, "Chus...it would seem..."

Groko punched through one of the creatures, saying, "These aren't new though."

"They do not have to be new," Endeavor replied as the chus dissipated. Their saber still in hand, they said, "It seems our way forward is blocked."

Link looked up and saw a pile of rock blocking the way further into the mine. He pointed down a smaller shaft. "We could go that way."

Groko tensed, saying, "I don't think that's a good idea, brother."

Endeavor added, "I sense darkness this way, Link, but we must find a way further into this mine. Though, if Zeal really has been here, and this darkness is what I believe it to be, then we will find explosives down this passage. Zeal would be a fool not to guard something like that."

"You want to go after that white lady?" Groko asked. "Why?"

"For one, she plans to capture Link when she believes he is ready to fight her master," Endeavor said.

Link paused, turning to Endeavor. "She's going to do what?"

"Second, Groko, this woman is the reason behind the troubles your people have been facing," Endeavor went on. "If you have any hope of returning to your former lives, then we must undo what damage she has done."

Groko scratched his head. "How do you know so much about this white lady, brother?"

Endeavor glanced at Link, seeing his curiosity also piqued. She said, "Zeal was a part of my tribe. She was chosen to become one of the Sages. Where her mind wandered into darkness, I cannot say, but she was lost. My people attempted to intervene, but it was too late. Darker forces were at work by then."

The Goron was silent. Endeavor waved off the comment. "We do not have time for this. We need to venture on, or there will be no hope for the Gorons or the troops outside."

"Right," Groko agreed. He looked down the smaller shaft. "Then we're going on."

The tunnel opened into an oddly carved out room. There was a current of lava flowing through the room. A few stone islands stood among the lava, but most of the actual paths were grate platforms a level above them. A large humanoid creature was pacing on one of the islands, a tail lashing behind it.

Groko's hands clenched. "Lizalfos." Link looked at the creature. It was a lizard, in a man body. It carried a black stone shield on its left arm, a short saber in its right, and wore a dark red loincloth.

Almost immediately after Groko spoke, the creature turned around and saw them. Link gripped his hilt a little tighter as the monster began leaping from island to island towards them.

The lizalfos's sword bounced harmlessly off of Groko's stone skin, forcing the lizalfos to turn towards a more vulnerable opponent. The closest it could find was Link, who slashed at the creature before it was even facing him head on. Lowering its shield, the lizalfos blocked the attack, before lowering its defenses and waving its tongue at Link.

Sending his sword forward, Link caught the lizalfos in its neck, forcing it to retreat. It bounced on its clawed feet for a moment, debating when to attack again. Link asked, "Is this all you sensed down here?"

"Hardly." Endeavor answered.

"Good to know," Link muttered, jumping over to the next island in the room. Groko waded out behind him as Link circled behind the lizalfos. He cut at the back of the monster, causing it to reel around as the wound throbbed. In rage, the creature lashed its tail back, catching Link on the arm. He gritted his teeth as a welt began swelling on his right forearm.
