...and a room full of monsters as well. Mostly stalfos, likely driven from the chamber they had left earlier. Link gripped his hammer with both hands. Endeavor put a hand on his shoulder, and pulled him back a step. "Before you go running off into battle, why not assist your companions first?"
Link lowered his hammer a bit, and leaned on the handle as he waited. He could never do this with his sword, which made it nice with the heavy, two-handed weapon and being able to rest with it. He pulled out his bomb bag. "This is the only other weapon I have that does any damage to them."
"Here, I can use them," Zelda said. "I think Endeavor can hold their own after that ReDead." There was a considerably amount of respect in the comment, the swipe impressive for Endeavor's thin rapier.
"Yes, arm the princess, she needs it more," Endeavor agreed, motioning to Zelda.
Link handed his bomb bag to Zelda. She pulled one out and stabbed an arrow through it. The bomb began to hiss. Zelda fired the bomb arrow at the group of monsters. The explosion knocked them all from their feet, shattering the few close to the explosion. "Yup, I can use these. Whenever you get your bow, Link, I'll have to show you how to do that," Zelda offered, a bright smile on her face.
He wasn't sure there was much of a trick to it, but he also found himself more interested in the offer for the time it might mean to see the princess again. Swinging the hammer back up, Link replied, "I'd like that."
"For now," Endeavor inserted, "shall we?" They gestured to now approaching monsters, stirred up by Zelda's attack.
Link swung his hammer into the ground, and a stone wave pushed back the closest of the monsters. In two sweeping blows, the field was cleared of the creatures. Link stopped himself as momentum tried to pull him into another. He preferred his sword, but this hammer was highly effective here.
With the room cleared of skeletal fiends, Link got a moment to look around. It was another temple-like room, with pillars and torches and pyres just like the entrance. Link asked, "Did we go in a circle?"
"We are hundreds of feet beneath the earth and have headed in the direct opposite direction of the chamber we entered in," Endeavor replied. "How do you believe we went in a circle?" Link shook his head, and looked around the room some more. Two stone knights stood on the far end of the room, guarding the door.
"Why do I get the feeling that those are going to come to life?" Zelda asked.
Endeavor answered, "Because they most likely are."
"What are they?" Link asked.
"Some kind Armos, I would think," Endeavor suggested, looking them over. "I have never seen this kind of monster before. Link, lead it out here so I can study it more. Finding a weakness would be wise."
Link paused and looked at them. "You want me to what?"
"You are not afraid, are you?" Endeavor goaded, expression tight despite the barb. No real heat behind it, but enough to ruffle his feathers.
Swinging his hammer back up, Link retorted, "No." He started across the room towards the two knights. As he approached, they stirred. Their long spears broke free first, followed by their bodies. They looked human enough, except for the stone forms and red glow where their eyes should be. Link didn't need Endeavor's help to find the big red domes on their backs, or know that it was most likely their weakness based on past experiences.
He rolled around to the closest one, and whacked it with his hammer. The Armos Knight froze, before it began to spin out of control. Link jumped out of the way, using his hammer to launch him further in his jump.
