____Emily Prentiss had always had a hard time showing herself vulnerable in front of other people because growing up she'd been taught that showing emotions was weak and that stuck with her. At work when the team had an extra difficult case she wouldn't react or flinch and when asked about it she'd just say that she was better at compartmentalizing than most people which was true to an extent. Even when Emily had started dating you she remained the same, except when you were alone of course. Occasionally she'd show herself, the deepest and darkest parts that she never let anyone see but you and for that you were grateful, getting to know the raven haired woman was certainly a privilege.
You had gone into work together bright and early in the morning like any other day, except that it wasn't like any other morning. Your girlfriend would always make sarcastic comment and be super bubbly in general which was the total opposite of how you acted at 6 am since you weren't a morning person. This morning she hadn't made any jokes and you could feel that something was wrong but of course when you asked she brushed you off and said "it's nothing, I'm fine" which you knew was bullshit but the agent was just as stubborn as you so there was really no point in pushing it any further.
Around lunchtime you had finally figured it out, she was sick. You had noticed her watery eyes and her nasally and congested voice that she could no longer hide along with the coughs she tried so desperately to mask but you weren't a complete fool. She had most likely caught the flu from someone's kids while working the latest case, typical. She wouldn't tell you about it though because she felt embarrassed (on top of already feeling like crap)
You let her off the hook until you saw her bringing one hand up to her head. She looked to be in a lot of pain and Emily being in pain never sat right with you.
"Em, baby, you're sick. Let's just go home, Hotch will understand. We can cuddle on the couch and watch your favourite movies and I can make you some hot tea and chicken noodle soup" You tried convincing her. The woman finally caved only a sentence in, slightly reaching for your hand and allowing you to guide her out of the bau.
In the car she confesses how sick she's actually feeling even though you had already guessed that.
When you get home to your shared apartment you tell her to lay down on the couch while you bring her favourite blanket and make her some warm tea with honey so help relieve her sore throat which she thanks you for. Soon enough you join her on the couch and snuggle close to her under the blanket to keep her warm. At first she protests saying that you will get sick too but then you remind her that everyone gets sick eventually and she finally gives in and relaxes in your arms. You'd think that the badass profiler would be the big spoon but don't be fooled, Emily loved to be the little spoon and she could get very clingy at times (usually when she wasn't feeling well)
She had been fighting back tears as you pressed a light kiss to her forehead because of how miserable she felt and you had to remind her that its okay to cry and be upset and that it didn't make her weak especially when she wasn't feeling well which of course she couldn't help.
You had put on her favourite movie and wrapped your arms around her from behind and about halfway though the movie she'd fallen asleep in your arms. You had stayed put for awhile, not wanting to wake her because you knew she needed to rest. You laid there combing your fingers through her hair (which she loved) and watched her chest rise and fall along with feeling the steady rhythm of her heartbeat.
After about an hour you decided to get up and make her some soup to make her feel better and to your relief your girlfriend didn't wake as you carefully removed yourself from her body and got off the couch.
A few hour later she'd woken up feeling a bit better than she had before but her forehead was still burning hot when you placed back of your hand against it to check.
"You didn't have to do that" she had told you as you placed the hot bowl of soup in front of her which was so typical of Emily.
"You're sick, of course I'm going to take care of you, that's my job" you had reassured her but she couldn't help but feel a bit guilty anyway.
Once she had finished the soup and thanked you about a hundred times before you helped her to the bedroom telling her that it was probably best if she got some extra sleep. To your surprise she hadn't tried to argue back (being too tired and sick to do so anyways) she just let you change her into some more comfortable clothes and pull the blanket over her without protesting. You were about to leave when you heard a voice telling you to stay. You smiled before getting into the bed and wrapping your arms around your girl yet again. The warmth of your arms and the scent of your lavender shampoo was enough to soothe her to sleep, a sleep she'd wake up from feeling much better than she had the previous day.
You had pressed another kiss to her forehead and whispered a sweet "I love you" before falling asleep as well.
