"Enjoy your flight ma'am" the security guard said as she handed you back your purse.
You looked up trying to find your gate. You checked the flight number and the destination: 66678 Seattle was at gate 2A. You started walking to your gate on the other side of the airport.
You had just come back from visiting your family over the holidays. With your busy schedule as a general surgeon in Seattle you rarely got any time for a vacation and to be honest you hated taking days off so you rarely did but your boss wouldn't let you work over Christmas "oh nonsense y/l/n of course you should celebrate with your family, your patients will still be here when you get back, go"
You had protested but your boss was stubborn and wouldn't take no for an answer so there wasn't anything you could say to change her mind. Although you'd never admit it out loud you were grateful for the time off giving you the opportunity to relax for the first time in months. Well maybe not relax since seeing your family was quite draining. Truth is you'd never had a great relationship with them but they were your family and it was a holiday so when you got the invite to your annual Christmas gathering there really wasn't much you could do about it.
You finally arrived at your gate "2A" feeling relief wash over you. You couldn't wait to be back with your work family in Seattle. Your colleges were truly like your family and it was strange being away from them when you'd usually spend every wake hour together and even during your sleeping hours in the on call rooms (which were very few of course)
You suddenly hear the dreading announcement flowing through the speakers "Due to weather reasons, all the flights are suspended until further notice, we apologize for the inconvenience. Vouchers for hotels are available at the front desk"
