18 - glorified fountain

"Be unbreakable."

That was always your rule of thumb. You always had a strong and cold exterior, so that most everyone would be scared of you.

So that they would be intimidated. Keep their distance from you. Respect you.

That they would leave you alone.

But recently, after meeting up with Ava again, your boarded-up walls started to crack.

And you didn't like it.

You weren't scared that you would hurt her, since she knew you would need to have a good reason. But you were rather scared that she might do something.

Get revenge.

Take back what you have stolen.

But you remained calm, despite your mind running wild.

You felt a poke, but you ignored it, waving them off.

"If you're going to fall asleep, at least fall asleep on the bed..." You heard Ava say.

"I'm not going to fall asleep..." You grumbled, lifting your head up.

You had fallen asleep while sitting on the dinner table with your head down. You still had the unfinished mug of coffee in your other hand.

"What do you need?" You ask Ava, before finishing your cup of coffee.

"Well...." Ava said, turning to look at the red doorway she drew. "We have a giant other-worldly portal that connects to another dimension and I have never explored it...and I was wondering if...."

You sighed. "You want me to go with you..." You finished for her. "Look, as much as I would love to trespass an area and risk getting fire-balled to the face...again...I am very much too tired right now." You said, before lowering your head again.

"Great! Let's go!" Ava said, dragging you by the arm.

You fell backward in your chair, but manage to recover yourself before your head hit the ground. "Well, here we go on an adventure I guess..."

"T-this is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen!!" Ava said, almost in tears.

You and Ava were standing in front of a huge hot tub area that was inside the daemos's side of the apartment. There were streams of water flowing down from a floating ring, framing the seating area of the tub itself.

"I'm sorry, but this just seems like an over-glamourized water fountain." You said, a bit confused by Ava's excitement.

"It's a hot tub!!" Ava said, squealing. "I'm going in there right now." She said, starting to take her shirt off.

"Woah, woah, woah-" You say, trying to stop her, but at the same time turning away. "You sure they're not gonna get mad?"

"They're living in our house if you forgot. I'm pretty sure they won't mind me taking a dip in their hot tub." She said, stepping in.

"Yeah..." You answer, still skeptical. "I think I'm just gonna walk around the area a bit..."

You heard Ava's voice while you were walking away. "Suit yourself. And don't be shy to holler out if you get lost."

You scoffed. "As if you're gonna be any better at wayfinding than I am."

You can hear Ava attempting to splash water in your direction. "Oh, shut up will you..."

You laugh before letting Ava enjoy her little hot tub moment.

"Geez, this place is huge considering the fact that it's basically a red crayon-door-hole thing on the other side..." You muttered, walking through the halls.

"Apparently humans really like eating pizza on dates." You heard Noi from across the hall. "Her parents weren't as scary as I thought they would be and sorceress-" He paused. "I mean, princess Ava...seems to like talking a lot."

"You hear that?" You heard a voice say, which you assumed to be Leif.

"Someone is here." Another voice said, this one being Pierce.

"Fucking shitballs-" You cursed under you breath.

"How did you not sense someone going through?" Another voice said, and hinted by the angry tone you assumed it was Asch.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck-" You kept cursing, trying to find somewhere to slink off to, or to somehow reach Ava before Leif ends up slicing her throat open.

"Ava, I'm pretty sure the 5 daemos know where here and Leif desperately wants to kill us." You said, out of breath. "Well, technically they won't kill you because of your apparent "princess" status, but you never know with Leif's bloodlust."

Somehow you miraculously made it back to the room where Ava was without being spotted. Although you were quite sure that you knocked over a candle stand or two, which probably alerted the daemos and were running over as you stood.

"They're living in our house, I'm pretty sure they won't mind." Ava said, not moving from her spot.

"Ava, they're from a different fucking dimension. And one of them is Mr. obnoxious prince man. I'm pretty sure they will mind." You said, internally screaming. "Do I even need to mention the fact that you're butt naked-"

"Princess Ava?" Pierce said, walking in with the others.

"Hiiiii!" Ava says, in a cheery tone.

You groan as you lean against the wall. "I repeat, Ava you're fucking butt-naked." You mumbled.

"What are you doing in the spell pool-I mean-" Rhys said, half confused and half surprised. "What are you doing here?"

"Well originally I wanted to stab you with my giant novelty pencil..." Ava said. "Because I was mad at myself for letting you guys into my life without question."

You turned to look at Ava. "Ava, you don't stab people when you're mad at yourself. Especially not with a fucking pencil."

"Anyway," Ava said, brushing you off. "I forgave you guys because I found this glamours hot tub!!"

"Hot tub?" Noi asked. "This is a spell-OW!" He yelled, after getting punched by Leif.

"Shes doing a thing that she does in her spell pool." Asch said.

"Spell pool?" Ava asked.

"He meant to say hot tub like you!" Rhys said, clearly panicking. "heheheh-"

"Is that safe for her to be doing?" Leif asked, only to get shushed by Rhys.

"Ok, lets make a deal. If you guys let me use this hot tub whenever I want, I'll tell you guys more about the human world." Ava said, weirdly being reasonable. "Kay?"

"Really?" Rhys said, genuinely interested.

'He's the smart one, but why is he so cute in this state-' You ask yourself.

"Deal." Asch says.

Ava giggles. "Now c'mon, sit with me!"

You stare at her. "Ava you're acting like you're fucking drunk."

"Can we do that?" Noi asked, seemingly being the only sane one. "Even I can't-" Noi said, before being interrupted by Pierce just walking in.

"You know, you're supposed to take off your clothes-" Ava said, until realizing the position she was it. "You know what, never mind, I'm not ready for that." She said, getting visibly flustered.

One by one they eventually walked in the hot tub also. Until it was just you and Rhys left.

Rhys looked at you with a confused look on his face before walking in himself. Leaving you just awkwardly standing near the doorway.

"C'mon!" Ava said, gesturing you over.

You sighed. "Fine, fine..."
