Everyone was quiet, I was biting my lip, staring at the ground. Rhydian was stood, facing away from us. He turned and his face lit up, "Well, it seems the Moon Goddess was right... We do need you." He chuckled. I let out a breath and relief washed over me. Cory came and stood beside me, "Caleb, you're awesome. Seriously, you can do this now... Imagine what you could be like with further training." He gushed. "You'd be unstoppable." He chuckled. I smiled awkwardly at him.

"That was awesome, Cal." Addi squealed running towards me, she flung her arms around me and chuckled. I hugged her back. She unwrapped herself from me, "Seriously, you can move. It was like super fast, One minute you were there and then there." She burst, flailing her hands about. Behind her, I could see Dom staring at me, he looked proud and gave off a look of... lust maybe. I pulled my eyes from him and stared back at Addi who was still ranting about what just happened.

"Caleb, can we talk?" Amaris stepped beside me and I nodded. We walked away from everyone and she stopped. She took a deep breath, "Listen, Alex caught the rogue you saw." She mentioned, her eyes flickering between blue and red. I sucked in a breath then shakily let it out. "My grandfather," I whispered and her eyes went wide. "I heard you and Rhydian yesterday," I explained. She sighed and nodded.

"If you want to see him, I will take you... but-" I interrupted her, "I do but not today, it's Addi's and Dom's birthday. Addi wants me to be there when she shifts if that's ok?" I asked. She beamed at me and nodded. "Perfect, tomorrow it is then." She nodded. I nodded and we went back to the others. Dom was stood next to Rhydian staring at the floor and Addi was talking to Cory about shifting. "Are you still coming round when I shift?" Addi asked, glancing at me. I nodded and smiled, "I wouldn't miss it, Addi." I replied. Dom's eyes shot to mine and he looked hopeful.

I took a deep breath, "I'll meet you there, I want to get a shower." I explained. She nodded and strolled off with Cory and Amaris. I went towards Rhydian and Dom, "You were awesome, Caleb." Dom expressed. I smiled at him, Rhydian glanced between us both before he smiled. "You were, you're incredible, Caleb." He praised. I felt amazing, nothing could bring me down at all from this high.

"Cal..." Dom whispered as Rhydian strolled away. And... I spoke too soon. "Please don't, Dom." I whimpered. "I can't handle it." I sighed. He sighed and nodded, "I'll see you later." He whispered before walking off, his head was down and I felt so bad. I made my way back to the packhouse to get ready.

After a quick shower, I went down to the kitchens to get something to eat. I went inside and stopped when a woman was stood by the sink. She turned and smiled at me, "Hey, I don't think we've met. I'm Gloria." She greeted. "I'm Caleb," I answered, smiling at her. "Are you hungry, dear?" She asked. I nodded and chuckled. "Here, let me get you something." She fussed as she opened the fridge. "Oh, you don't have to." I blurted. "Nonsense, it's my duty." She replied. I hummed in response and didn't argue.

She started pulling ingredients out of the fridge, "Ham salad sandwich?" She asked, glancing over her shoulder. I nodded and sat at the table. "Cooking is my favourite thing to do." She mentioned with a chuckle. "Although making a sandwich is exactly cooking, I still enjoy it." She added. I chuckled. "Yeah, I like cooking. I used to bake a lot with-" I stopped myself and took a deep breath. "I bet you could make some yummy things." She smiled. She never asked me what I was going to say and I was glad.

She handed me the sandwich in a napkin. "Now, you can take it on your travels." She chuckled. "Thank you, Gloria." I grinned. She nodded and started clearing up after herself. Time had gone really quick today. I went out early this morning and it's now, half 2 in the afternoon. I must have spent longer training than I thought.

I headed towards Addison's house, munching on the sandwich. It was delicious. I wiped the crumbs off my shirt and face as I reached their house. I went to knock on the door, "Around back." Rhydian called out. I jumped slightly and chuckled to myself. I walked around the house and entered through the back garden. Dom and Addi were stood in the middle of the garden. Dom looked terrified whereas Addi wouldn't standstill.

"Dom, are you nervous about shifting?" Cory questioned. Dom shook his head then glanced at me. My breath caught in my throat and I looked away. "Ok, guys. It'll be any minute now I think." Amaris called out. We stood watching them, waiting for their shift to start. Suddenly they both fell their hands and knees, an awful, heartbreaking sound left both of them. I couldn't breathe, all I could picture was Caleb. I was hyperventilating, trying to catch my breath. Arms were pushing me back towards the house, I turned and stumbled into the kitchen.

I got myself a glass of water and downed it. I took deep breaths, trying to block out the sounds from the garden. Suddenly the sounds stopped, I took a deep breath. Surely they couldn't have completed the shift already. The door opened and Cory poked his head through, "Are you ok? They're done." He mentioned. I nodded and placed the glass down.

I stepped outside, two wolves stared at me. My mouth went wide, they were huge. Addi was grey with black paws, black patches over her eyes and a black stripe down her front; she had red ear tips and the tips of her tail were red. Dom was different, he was black with dark grey paws, a grey stripe down his front, he had the red tips too but he had crimson patches over his sides. They were both stunning.

Addi's wolf tilted her head towards me before stepped closer, she was curious about something. Dom watched me, he raised his snout in the air then huffed. Addi's wolf was circling me, smelling me. I watched in confusion. She started whining and nudging at my legs. "Addison, shift back," Amaris ordered, her eyes were red. Addi's wolf crouched, I blinked and she was back in her human form, fully clothed.

Her eyes were focused on me, I frowned. I heard Dom's wolf whine before turning, he jumped over the small fence and darted off into the forest. She was looking at me confused. I had absolutely no idea what was happening. "What's going on? Addi, is he your mate?" Rhydian asked. She glanced between us all, her eyes wide.

"I don't know. He's something, I daren't touch him." She whimpered.
