I stayed in my bed staring out at the window. My room was too far up to see anything going on below the tree line. I watched a storm roll in as the rain began to patter against my window. I heard my door creak open and then someone sitting on the edge of my bed, "Hey, We're getting ready to go," Kai reached over grabbing my shoulder, "Oh I thought you were asleep." I turned over to finally look at him, "Come on, I'll meet you downstairs in about 5 minutes."
When I got up I shuffled through the clothes to try and find my rainjacket. I hopped down the stairs where Kai stood, "Come on," He laughed seeing me in the raincoat.
When we walked out of the front door a man holding an umbrella handed it to Kai for the short walk to the car, I noticed Kai walk to the far side of the car and get in the back seat. I sat next to him and as we pulled down the driveway.
"Kai?"
"Hm?"
"Why is it sometimes you have someone drive us, and sometimes you don't?"
Kai set his phone down preparing for a long explanation, "When I have official business, I have a driver or bodyguard. When I'm on my own time I drive myself."
"So I was official business?"
"What're you talking about?"
"You had a driver when you came and got me."
"That's because I flew in."
"Oh."
There was a pause for a moment when he grabbed his phone, "Wait, Kai... what is official business?"
"Uh, things that retain to business."
"Which is?"
"Like meetings and stuff like that."
"What is the business?"
He paused and didn't say anything for a minute, "Kai, if you don't answer I'm gonna have no choice but to assume your batman."
He laughed a little bit, "No, it's a little of this a little of that."
"Like?"
"Investments, we own a couple of Hotels- like the one we're going to right now."
"Oh okay."
Well, that was kinda boring.
Kai stayed on his phone while we headed towards the city. I had only been to Seattle a couple of times in my life, and I don't remember any of those trips
I vaguely remember the skyscrapers and the Space needle. We rounded a corner of the freeway and the city came into view. I first noticed the big tall black building sparkling in the rain. We drove through a white tile tunnel as graffiti covered the walls before coming out on an open road, "Where are we going?" I asked.
"Motif Hotel, across the city," Kai watched the streets with me even though he'd seen them a thousand times before. The driver pulled down into a parking garage. I left the raincoat in the car and followed Kai into the elevator the driver standing in front of the doors.
The bell dinged hitting the first floor and I looked around the high vaulted ceiling. White chairs sat around and people in nice clothes frequented the area, "Mister McGrath," A man holding a folder in his hand met Kai with a handshake.
"Nice to see you again."
"They're ready for you whenever."
Kai nodded and turned around to me, "Here is my credit card go keep busy for about half an hour. I shouldn't be too long," He leaned down kissing the top of my head.
