"Hey," Torryn came up next to me as I got out of my car.
"Hey," I said simply.
"Can we talk?"
The bell rang and looked at him, "After school."
He simply nodded as we departed ways for our classes. It wasn't until my Aunt's class we saw each other again. I don't know what it was. The spark I felt when I first saw Torryn, the sparks I felt at the fair... they just weren't there anymore. I don't know if it was the adrenalin of being the new kid at school and feeling like the main character or if it was the happiness.
"Good Afternoon Burnt Rose High School," The Announcement's started, "Senior, Please pick up your caps and gowns after school today along with your prom tickets. Girl's soccer tryouts begin tomorrow and the season starts in one week. Now please stand for the pledge of allegiance," We all stood and recited it and then resumed our class.
"Name?" A woman asked me from behind the table.
"Aza McGrath," I told her and she gave me a double look before finding my stuff.
"Um here's that," She gave me a bag with my graduation stuff inside and a receipt for my prom ticket and rushed me out of the line quickly. I sighed and walked past the girl's locker room as a couple of girls rushed past me and one bumped into me. My graduation stuff and ticket falling to the floor.
She looked back with a smirk holding a pair of soccer cleats in her hand, "You've got to be kidding me," I sighed gathering my stuff.
When I dropped my stuff in my car I followed the soccer girls to their field watching from the fence. They weren't that good either. The girl who'd dropped my stuff penalty kicked a ball and missed. Another didn't have any power behind her foot.
There was no way I wasn't going to play here. It was my last season, Ryan and May would want me to play.
"Jesus Christ," I turned around to see Torryn out of breath from walking up the hill to the field, "I've been looking everywhere for you."
"Right... Sorry," I walked towards him, "What'd you want to talk about?"
"Us... You haven't texted me. You haven't answered any of my calls. Are you okay? Is this still about your dad?"
"No, No, he apologized for that actually."
"Then what's going on? I thought-"
"I thought... that was it Torryn. I'm not ready for this."
"Aza, we'd just be close friends, we aren't having a kid-"
"Torryn my foster parents always said never date in high school, their advice has stood true so far... I'm not ignoring it now."
"Aza, but-"
"I said no."
He bit his lip, "Alright... Just text me whenever you need me I guess."
I sighed watching him walk away. I'm really good at self-destructing my own relationships. There have been several times Kai could've listened to me and didn't come looking for me and I'd be on my own again.
It wasn't so bad... I was good at it.
"Hey Z, how was school?" Kai asked with a happy smile.
"Fine," I sighed.
"What's that?" He asked taking my bag from me.
"Cap, gown, prom ticket."
"Oh, that's cool...When's prom?"
