the whole base was bustling with activity- for a timing like this, it was pretty much unusual, many of them walking around to get ready for their invasion. with the addition to seventeen members- who came prepared- the base was more crowded than usual.
many were busy double checking while others remained unfazed, most probably due to the countless amount of times they have prepared for something of that sort or they had just woken up early and was already done preparing.
" hey you alright? " jaemin joined her at the table where all their earpieces were laid out at, noticing how pale she was and how she just stood there, staring into nothingness with her earpiece still in hand.
she gave no reply, almost like she couldn't hear him at all, he stared at her, taking in her beauty as if he wouldn't see her anymore. jaemin placed his hand gently over hers, giving it a little squeeze.
" huh? oh urm, can i- can- never mind, " y/n dismissed it with a a single wave if her hand.
" it's alright you can say whatever is on your mind. " he reached out to hold onto her wrist just as she was leaving.
she placed her hand over his, gently releasing his grip on her, " i'll tell you when this is all over, alright? " she allowed her thumb to rub small circles on his hand before letting go- aware of the curious gazes they were getting.
" how bout we get going now. "

it was somewhere between night and day, the sky was painted with the colour of navy blue with a mixture of black and slight streak of purple. in the dead silentness of the night where only an occasional person could be seen walking along the pavement, or some drunkards throwing up in drains or staggering as they tried their best to walk home.
street lamps still turned on for the usual safety reasons and the usual neon light signs at street shops turned off since it was way after opening hours. the only exceptions were bars and clubs or any other freaky place you could think of.
it came clear to them that the bar wolf crew uses to conceal their secret entrance to the base was closed at 3.30am. therefore, outsiders who just came to the bar for some fun would be long gone when both gangs arrive.
perhaps someone amongst the 37 of them were having some sort of extreme luck, there, when they had reached the base, the voice belonging to seungkwan- seventeen's hecker- informed them about the unlocked main door.
time check was 3.40am, just ten minutes after they were supposed to close the club, pretty suspicious for renjun as he double checked all the surveillance cameras they were able to heck into- seventeen and nct cars parked at blind corners with no one in sight.
inside the base was a different thing, they werent able to gain much access to it yet. they were still working through the different levels of security each camera had.
they were able to gain access to the one in the living room, spotting several faces that some of their members were going after while wolf crew's members just lazed around counting the money they had scammed from the unknowing and unsuspecting people who had came to have fun in the bar.
informing whatever they saw to the 34 of them out in the field while the leaders gave out instructions to their members.
sitting back in the base and watching everything unfold out through the cameras made a realisation hit renjun- they were just going in to kill everyone just to revenge for their families? revenge was a weird word to him, he hadn't really thought about it much in his life.
not when everything he had was snatched from him at a young age, memories of that day remain blurry, only knowing that his whole house got set on fire when his parents repeatedly refused to provide money to one of his relative in that wolf crew gang. the red flames licking at his house as he watched the neighbourhood he lived in blew up in flames.
he wasnt even sure of the details, watching through tears as the several young teenagers walked away smugly from the scene, leaving him alone on the ground, crying as he watched house after house burn down to ashes through teary eyes.
or were they revenging for all the lives wolf crew had taken? the children they had kidnapped just for fun, adults they took to have fun with or just random people on the streets they killed when they felt like it?
according to kiha, they were a bunch with mental issues or they were just relatives of those who had any. worshipping their leader like he was some sort of god, had the leader of wolf crew tortured them to it? tortured them until they believed that he ( or she ) was the closest thing to god and that what ever instructions that were given out were for the good of mankind.
it was sickening in his opinion, he couldnt think of a single person who could do that without feeling a single drop of remorse. it lead him to wonder if anyone, just like kiha had done, pretended to worship the leader when they actually didn't.
through the numerous big screens and more surveillance cameras of the interior popping out, he saw the members entering separately from different enterences, firing their guns at anyone they saw, pools of blood around bodies and trails that followed the injured.
was this their ideal type of revenge?
along in the field, the whole situation was getting worse. at a glance, it seemed like none of the nct or seventeen members had serious injuries, just a little cut or some shallow stabs. it was evident how unprepared all the members of wolf crew were, many unable to search for weapons nearby and were just fighting with fists while some snatched weapons from the kitchen.
unfamiliar to everything, sungchan and shotaro ducked around, hesitating to pull the trigger on another human as both fought in a less crowded area. y/n tried her best to dodge all the fightings, staying low to avoid the bullets and debris flying around while pulling the trigger on whoever tried to hurt her or him.
her eyes stuck to the familiar back in front of her who seemed pretty out of it. he fired bullets at whatever came by his way without a second thought or glance, reloading the gun more times then anyone else.
bodies fell beside him as he carried on with his doings- face blank as if his soul actually wasn't with him any more. she shouted out jaemin's name several times, replying to none of her calls as if he couldn't hear them at all.
she followed him to an empty hallway, it seemed almost like it was out of bounds to people. doors were properly closed and there was no one or traces of blood in sight.
y/n neared him with caution, tugging his shirt while still maintaining a little distance from him, making him glance in her direction.
" where are you going? " she questions, her grip tightening, " it might be dangerous you know? you shouldn't go alone. "
