As they were having lunch, they heard someone coughing in the distance, loudly. The sound of the Box coming up startled them.

Newt and Alby immediately turned their heads towards the sounds, exchanging a glance. Chuck looked up at them, watching them run towards the sound as he followed. The rest were finishing up their meals hastily to see what was happening.

Newt quickly sat down as they both peeked down into the box to see a brown haired girl, who seemed to be pretty out of it. The shipment was late, but they weren't expecting this.
Zart: Is that a girl?

Everyone stared down in shock.

They've never had a girl in the glade before.

The gladers peeked in, whispering to each other. Some were excited, others worried, but they were mostly confused.

Why now?

Chuck: Guys, a little help here??

He yelled as the others rushed to help them lift her out. The brunette was still coughing violently, as Newt was holding her on the ground.

Chuck: Hey- Hey! Are you okay? Can you hear me?

He poured a little bit of water into her mouth as she slowly opened her eyes.

?: Where is- where's my sister-?

She panicked as she quickly got up, realising she was now surrounded by unknown people. You could see the fear in her eyes, as she slowly backed away from Newt.

Newt: No- Wait-!

He yelled as she started running towards the trees.

Frypan: Looks like we've got a runner!

They had a tough time catching up to her, as she quickly climbed up on one of the trees.

Newt: She's alright, I think she just might be scared.

He said to Alby as they stared up at her. She just looked down at them, shaking a bit.

That evening, Newt decided to check up on her, and see if she had come down from the tree, only to see her in the same spot she was earlier. She watched him walk towards her, as she gripped the tree.

Newt: I get it, you're scared. But we're not gonna hurt you, alright?

He looked up at her, his arms were in the air, as if he was telling her that he's coming in peace and there was nothing to be afraid of. She still stared at him with those same scared eyes. Newt let out a sigh, sitting down under the tree and leaning against it.

Newt: I'm Newt.

For a moment, she felt... safe.

Elizabeth: Elizabeth.

He looked up at her.

Newt: You remember your name?

She furrowed her brows, not knowing what he meant by that.

Newt: We all wake up in the box, without any memory. Our names usually come back in a day or two.

She nodded.

Newt: Come down, please.

She was still hesitant, so she shook her head.

Newt let out a sigh, getting up.

Newt: Just- come down when you're ready, alright?

She nodded lightly.  He walked towards the others.

That night, she was looking up at the stars as Newt was back again. He decided to keep her company for the night. She was grateful but she didn't know how to show it, she was still afraid.

As Newt was already asleep, she slid back down slowly, not wanting to wake him up. She sat down next to him, watching him as she couldn't sleep.
His head was resting on one of the tree's roots, which must have been uncomfortable to lay on, she thought.

She took off the flannel shirt she had over her t-shirt and folded it up, slowly lifting his head and putting it underneath as a pillow. She laid down a couple of feet away from him, sliding her arm under her head for support, looking up at the stars.

The next morning, she was already up, as she was awake all night. She had gathered some daisies to make flower crowns to keep herself busy, as the night was long.

She slowly looked to her right as she heard a rustling sound. Newt was waking up.

She kept her guard up as he slowly opened his eyes.

Newt: Morning.

He smiled at her as he looked down at the makeshift pillow she gave him. He picked it up, putting his hand out to give it back to her and she cautiously took the flannel back.

She handed him a flower crown as a thank you. Her eyes practically sparkled as he gently picked it up from her hands.

Newt: Oh, for me?

She nodded quickly.

He laughed as he put it onto his head.

Newt: Well thank you- You're not much of a talker, are you?

She shook her head lightly.

Newt: It's alright. You hungry?

Elizabeth: A little.

He raised his eyebrows for a second, as he wasn't expecting a verbal response.

Newt: Come on, let's get you something to eat.

She got up and followed him, putting her flower crown on. As the night was long, she'd made a lot of flower crowns that she stored in her pocket, planning on giving to other as.. a sign of peace?

To be completely honest, she had no idea what she was doing. She was scared, all alone, and she missed her sister.

It will take her a bit to get used to these people, and this was a good start.

As she cautiously approached the others, Newt nodded at her to make sure she was okay. She nodded back, slowly joining them. Newt and her shared breakfast that morning, as Chuck approached them.

Newt: This is uh- Chuck, this is Elizabeth.

She waved at him as he smiled. She held a finger up, as she pulled out a flower crown for him.

Chuck: U-um, t-thank you...

His cheeks turned red as Newt laughed.

Newt: I think it means thank you.

He whispered to him.

Chuck: Oh-

She nodded as he put it onto his head with a smile.

Later that day, Alby showed Elizabeth around the Glade. Her and Newt spent the whole day together, as he helped her with what she was told to do by Alby.

Newt: Y'know, you'd make a great runner Elizabeth.

Elizabeth: Hm?

She turned her glance towards him.

Elizabeth: Oh, right. Maybe.

They finished their tasks for the day and stargazed in the evening.
