There once was a girl named Susie. For Susie's 7th birthday her parents got her a new doll. It was seemly a regular rag doll and Susie loved it instantly. When her parents asked what she would name it she answered "Anne". The next day when Susie went to school she left Anne on her bed among all her other dolls. Upon her return Susie rushed into her room and plucked Anne from the rocking chair that resided beside her bookcase. Susie played with Anne until suppertime when she placed her back on the rocking chair and went to eat. Susie did not return to her room until bedtime. She moved Anne over slightly so she could crawl into bed beside her. "Wake up Susie. I want to play." Susie sat up in her bed and looked around for the speaker. Seeing none, she pulled Anne closer to her and tried to sleep once more. Her mother woke her in the morning and told her she had to get ready for school. Susie sat up causing Anne's hands to fall from their resting place on her throat. Susie quickly got ready and placed Anne on the rocking chair once more. Throughout the school day Susie continued to think about her strange dream the night before. Susie's mother drove her home and unlocked the door. Susie screamed. Anne was standing behind the door, her cloth hand reaching for the doorknob. "Mommy! Mommy! get her out of the house. I don't want this dolly anymore!" Susie's mother offered no objections and tossed Anne in the dumpster down the block. Susie felt a lot safer by bedtime that night after watching her father lock the door. Her mother tucked her in and turned out the light. later that night Susie was awoken by a voice accompanied by the stench of garbage. "Susie? why did you throw me out? I thought we were friends." Susie sat up and screamed in fear, seeing Anne sitting at the foot of her bed with garbage in her hair and dirt on her feet as if she had walked to the house. "Don't scream Susie. No one will hear you." Susie stopped. "Come with me Susie. We can be together forever." Anne pounced reaching for Susie's vulnerable throat. Susie screamed, but no one came.
