My name is Kachina Auski from the Innu tribe. I was the daughter of my tribes chief. I was happily married, my husband Viho was next in line to become chief and my only daughter, Aquene was showing early signs of communicating with the spirits. Many would have called my family blessed, for years I felt the same. It wasn't until five years after the spirits had witnessed the union between Viho and myself that the dreams began. The dreams appeared to my daughter, every morning she would come to me and say "The spirits are talking about daddy. They keep saying daddy has bad thoughts." I foolishly thought nothing of this. one year later I realized my mistake. I was gathering some herbs for the medicine woman when I felt a piercing pain in my back. The next thing I remember was looking down at my body, pierced by a familiar arrow. I panicked and rushed back to my hut where Aquene was playing. She looked so peaceful, until she saw my figure floating beside her. I quickly explained what had happened. Horrified, she stared at me and whispered "Daddy has bad thoughts." It was then that Viho arrived. "She's here isn't she?" When Aquene nodded he pulled out his hunting knife. Her screams still ring in my ears.
