After the duel on Galidraan, K'Kruhk and Eri made their way back to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant to report to the Jedi Council on what had transpired. When K'Kruhk informed the Council on Mordred's actions, they were troubled by the news.

Yoda: Troubling this development is.

K'Kruhk: It was clear that Mordred's goal was vengeance. He says I abandoned him on Galidraan.

Mace Windu: I agree. It is clear that Mordred is far more dangerous than anticipated.

Ki-Adi Mundi: If what Master K'Kruhk says is true, then Mordred Jahl has become a grave threat.

As the Council began to discuss on what to do about Mordred, K'Kruhk was disheartened to hear his former apprentice being mentioned as a threat. Eri could sense the sorrow from her master. K'Kruhk soon stepped forward.

K'Kruhk: I take full responsibility for what happened to Mordred. He was my apprentice and I failed him. His fall to the Dark Side was my failing. I will do everything in my power to correct my mistake.

Yoda: Careful you must be, Master K'Kruhk. A personal matter for you this is. Cloud your judgement, it does.

K'Kruhk: I will admit that this is a personal matter to me. Mordred Jahl was my apprentice and I blame myself for what happened to him. With that being said, my judgement has never been more clear. Mordred has become a very grave threat. As I was once his master, it is my duty to find him and bring him back to the Light.

Upon hearing this, Eri as well as the Jedi Council were skeptical. Based on Mordred's past actions, many within the Jedi Council expressed their concern.

Even Piell: Do you really believe your Padawan could be redeemed?

K'Kruhk: Mordred is not evil. His fall was no fault of his own.

Oppo Rancisis: That may be, but it is clear that he has fully immersed himself in the Dark Side. You yourself have said of his desire to exact vengeance on you. When one falls to the Dark Side, vengeance is only the beginning.

K'Kruhk took a moment to reflect on this. He knew that Oppo Rancisis had a point. It was clear that Mordred fully embraced the Dark Side. Despite this, K'Kruhk held out hope that he could redeem his former apprentice. The Jedi Council took a moment to reflect on the matter of Mordred. Meanwhile, Mordred Jahl had made his way to Coruscant. He infiltrated the Jedi Temple through through its water tunnels. As he made his way to the Jedi Temple, Mordred smiled to himself.

Mordred: (I'm not done yet, K'Kruhk. Not yet....)

Mordred began navigating through the Jedi Temple. Using Force Stealth to mask his presence, Mordred walked the halls of the Jedi Temple. He soon made his way to the Room of a Thousand Fountains where many Jedi go to meditate. He then grabs an explosive charge and sets it under a footbridge. Mordred then waits patiently. His patient soon pays off when K'Kruhk and Eri enter the Room of a Thousand Fountains.

Eri: Master, do you really think we can help Mordred?

K'Kruhk: No one is ever far from redemption, Eri. As Jedi, we must try and see the good in all beings no matter how much darkness lies within them.

Eri: I...I don't understand, Master.

K'Kruhk: In time, it will all makes sense, Eri. You must learn to trust in the Force.

Eri soon thought of her childhood experiences under Overhaul. As she refelcted on this, she couldn't help but see a bit of herself in Mordred. A part of her wondered what her life would be like if K'Kruhk never found her.

K'Kruhk: Let us meditate, Eri.

With that, K'Kruhk and Eri began to meditate. As they did, Mordred smiled to himself. He gave off a surge of his dark side power, alerting K'Kruhk and Eri before the bomb exploded. Satisfied, he ducked into a waterfall to escape. Before he left, Mordred left a holoprojector in the room. The explosion soon alerted the Jedi Temple as two Jedi Temple Guards entered the room.

Jedi Temple Guard: Are you all right, Master K'Kruhk?

K'Kruhk: I...I am fine. Alert the temple!

The Jedi Temple Guards left the room as K'Kruhk checked on Eri who was unharmed. Their attention soon fell on the holoprojector device left by Mordred. K'Kruhk activated it, playing a prerecorded message from Mordred.

Mordred(Holoprojection): K'Kruhk. If you are reading this, I suppose I underestimated you. I won't next time. I enjoyed our adventure together, Master. But the time has come for this to end. I planted that bomb with the sole intention of getting your attention. Travel to Umbara. That is where you will find me. Bring your Padawan too. She is as part of this as you and I are.

The message then transmits a set of coordinates on Umbara. In that moment, Mordred had revealed himself once more to his former master. This attack on the Jedi Temple was a message.

K'Kruhk: Gather your equipment, Eri. We're leaving for Umbara.

Eri: Yes, Master.

With that, K'Kruhk and Eri gathered their equipment and informed the Jedi Council on what has occurred. The Jedi Council then grants them permission to travel to Umbara to confront Mordred. As K'Kruhk and Eri made their way to a Jedi Training Cruiser, both K'Kruhk and Eri prepared themselves for what appeared to be the final confrontation of Mordred Jahl. For better or worse, this was the beginning of the end.
