Years have passed since Eri has been accepted into the Jedi Order. In that time, Eri had begun her Jedi training as a Youngling. Under the teachings of her Jedi teachers, Eri had begun learning the ways of the Force. Despite her training, Eri was still haunted by the memories of her tortures under Overhaul. Slowly, Eri made progress in her Jedi Training under K'Kruhk, who she deeply cared for. One day, K'Kruhk took Eri onboard a Jedi Cruiser and took her to the planet of Ilum. As the ship landed in front of a temple, Eri was curious.

Eri: Where are we, Master K'Kruhk?

K'Kruhk: We are in Ilum, a sacred planet to the Jedi Order and one of the few planets in the Galaxy that has Kyber Crystals.

Eri: Kyber Crystals?

K'Kruhk: Kyber Crystals are what powers a Jedi's Lightsaber. It is the heart of the Crystal.

K'Kruhk then leads Eri into the ancient Jedi Temple. Eri was astonished by the architecture of the temple. Not even the Jedi Temple on Coruscant was this beautiful. Eventually, K'Kruhk took young Eri to the entrance of the Crystal Caves.

K'Kruhk: Today will be the day you build your own Lightsaber. In these caves, you will harvest your own Crystal.

Eri: What must I do?

K'Kruhk: You must go into the Caves and find your Kyber Crystal.

K'Kruhk then uses the Force to activate a mechanisim which harnessed Ilum's Sun and focused it on the frozen door. As the light shines on the door, the ice freezes.

K'Kruhk: Once you have found your Crystal, you must linger in the Cave. As daylight ends, the door will freeze again and you will be trapped for one rotation. If you are trapped inside, there will be nothing I can do.

Upon hearing this, Eri looked at the entrance to the Cave. She felt immense fear at the prospect of being trapped in the cave.

Eri: How...how will I know which Crystal to pick?

K'Kruhk: The Force will guide you.

With that, Eri took a deep breath and entered the Caves. What she found was countless glowing Kyber Crystals. She was overwhelmed by all the Crystals inside. She didn't know where to start. She simply kept walking through the Caves. Eventually, she came across a frozen lake. As she began walking, she heard a voice calling her out.

Voice: Eri....

Upon hearing the voice, Eri grew uneasy. She felt her body tense up as a familiar voice called out to her. She then fell back on a coping mechanism taught to her by K'Kruhk.

Eri: There is no emotion, there is peace.

Eri took a deep breath and continued walking across the frozen lake. As she did, the voice continued to call out to her. She soon saw a shadow standing over the Crystal.

Shadow: You cannot escape from me, Eri. You....are....mine!

Eri's heart stopped and she began sweating. She knew this shadow. It was that shadow that tormented her every day since she was taken away from Overhaul. This shadow took the form of Overhaul. As she saw this shadow, Eri's fear grew.

Overhaul(Vision): You cannot escape from me, Eri. You are mine!

Eri: No.....no!

The ice of the frozen river began to crack around her. She got into a fetal position as the shadow of Overhaul continued to haunt her. As she was about to be overwhelmed in her fear, she remembered the Jedi Code.

Eri: I....I can do this.....

Eri got up and calmly walked across the ice. Even as the ice cracked around her, she remained calm.

Eri: I am one with the Force and the Force is with me. I am one with the Force and the Force is with me.

Eri continued to walk the frozen river and soon stood before not only the Crystal, but the shadow of Overhaul.

Overhaul(Vision): You were born to destroy people. Each and every one of your actions kill people. Yours is a cursed existence.

Eri looked upon the shadow of Overhaul with determination in her eyes.

Eri: I am no longer your slave. I am a Jedi.

Eri reached out for the Crystal and grabbed it. As she did, the shadow of Overhaul vanished. She looked upon the Crystal in her hand. She felt a great weight being lifted off of her shoulders. She took a deep breath and began making the journey out of the Caves. When she did, she calmly looked upon her master. K'Kruhk smiled.

K'Kruhk: I trust you've found your Crystal?

Eri showed K'Kruhk the Kyber Crystal she took from the cave.

K'Kruhk: Normally, Initiates must gather their own materials, but I believe you have proven yourself worthy in my eyes.

K'Kruhk then gave Eri the materials to build her Lightsaber. She got on her knees and began using the Force to construct her Lightsaber.

K'Kruhk: The crystal is the heart of the blade. The heart is the crystal of the Jedi. The Jedi is the crystal of the Force. The Force is the blade of the heart. All are intertwined. The crystal. The blade. The Jedi. You are one, Eri.

Eri used the Force to construct her Lightsaber. Once she finished, she ignited her Lightsaber's blue blade.

K'Kruhk: You have done well, Eri. You have made astounding progress. This was your final test. Now I name you, my Padawan Learner.

Eri was overwhelmed with joy at the news.

Eri: T...thank you, Master K'Kruhk.

As Eri bowed to her master, K'Kruhk felt a disturbance in the Force.

K'Kruhk: Something trespasses on sacred ground. The Temple is breached!

K'Kruhk ignited his Lightsaber. In that moment, Eri's trial on Ilum was complete. Now she would confront these intruders alongside her master.
