"Alright, alright...I will speak. What do you want to learn?"

"I have heard rumors about a place called rewriting chamber. I was hoping you could give me some information about it."

Judas forced a small grin after hearing the raven's question.

"So, even after all this time, people didn't forget" Judas said disappointed.

"Well the rewriting chamber's purpose, is to rewrite people as the name indicates. Most of our mercenaries were just small-fries compared to the god-tiers that posed as vigilantes when our organization was funded."

"As you can imagine, our numbers started to fall drastically, since the low tiers were expendable. So we thought, what if we turned some vigilantes against their own people?"

"And for the most part, it was a good plan. But any effort of bribing them seemed futile. Most of them helped the ones in need with no exchange, and money didn't work on them."

"If we were planning to turn them against their own people we had to do it by brutal force. Αfter years of research, our lab team developed a memory-rewriting ability. The only downside was that we had to break their mental defenses in order for it to work. And that can't be done on the spot. We had do break them piece by piece, making them realize how pathetic they truly were."

John eyes widened in anger. He clenched his fist preparing to charge against the man when...

Don't you dare attack him now. We want answers remember? the voice retorted

Do you hear how he talks about the vigilantes? Those people risked their life and he treats them like they were the worst scums of society.

He is a member of Ember, so what did you expect? Don't do anything stupid until he reveals the information we want, got it?

Fine.

"You can create abilities? From scratch? That should have been impossible" the raven asked

"Well, we thought the same, at the start. But later, one of our prime executives got his hands on a kid that could copy abilities. And after extracting that kid's DNA, everything seemed to finally  click. We could create artificial abilities based on demand, although no matter how hard we tried, we never managed to imitate that kid's ability."

John gritted his teeth in mere disappointment.

I am the reason Ember's power increased. As I once thought, I am the one that started it all.

"Not that we didn't try to. But every time we created a substance of his ability, the host we used it on died. Their body couldn't take it. Strange isn't it? Almost like his ability was specifically meant for that kid"
