"Wait, he didn't hit you?" Claire asked the blonde
"Yeah, I don't know either. Considering what I did, I deserved a first-class beating" Adrion shrugged
"Seraphina was correct. He is acting weird. For crying out loud,this is John we are talking about"
"You mean John's ex-friend? You girls are still talking?"
"Yeah, occasionally. You should meet her, she seems like a decent person. Although the recent events seem to have upset her a bit" Claire sighed
"John's detention?"
"Uhh...yeah" Claire responded. Her thoughts were in conflict, She allowed her mind to wander around the most recent events; John's detention and his encounter with Adrion seemed way too abnormal. John wouldn't hesitate to brutalize Adrion, he resented people disrespecting his authority. So, why didn't he do it?.Could this be a cry for help? Was the old John still there?
She didn't want to admit it, but the solution was quite simple. Well, not that simple actually. She felt shivers run down her spine as she kept thinking of it.
"Its not the time to back down now" Claire thought, mustering up her remaining courage.
"I will go see him" Claire announced, with decisiveness lacing her tone.
Claire's words left Adrion startled. His brain tried to process the words he had just heard, but it was hopeless. He just couldn't comprehend it.
"Come again?"
"I want to know what happened to him. What caused this...change"
"So you tell me that you wanna see the person that brutalized you without even shedding a tear. Just the reference of his name causes you panic attacks. And now you want to see him in person?"
"Look, Adrion I know how damgerous it could be.But John and I were both left traumatized back then.I lost one of my best friends. And to his eyes, he got betrayed by both of his best friends that day. In some way, I can acknowledge his pain. Perhaps, our old friend is still there. And I feel that, unlike back then, I have a chance to save him."
"This is crazy, you are not going" Adrion said
Claire sighed. "Looks like it had to come down to this".
Her Scarlet eyes glowed on command, indicating the awakening of her ability.
