the cold never bothered me anyway - elsa, frozen

As he drives away from the cottage, I groan, rubbing my hand across my forehead. A headache starts to pound through my brain and my ears as I try to think how to untangle this mess.

"Are you okay?" he asks me with hesitance.

"Yeah. Just annoyed with my idiot brother," I respond, giving him a tired smile.

We don't say anything else as we drive to my house. The sun is still setting as we make it up to Uncle J's gate. I start to get out before it opens, making me realize someone's waiting for us. That only makes my stomach drop even more.

We pull up to the front, Brody getting out quickly and walking to my side, helping me down. I look over to the front door, seeing it open and Michael walking out, arms crossed, face red.

"Shit," I whisper. I look back to Brody, giving him a soft smile that feels like it's being pulled down. "I'm sorry. I should go before he tries to come over here, though. Thank you for tonight. I'll text you later," I tell him, making him smile back and nod.

I quickly go in for a hug, enjoying it while I can and then backing up after a few seconds, walking to the front porch.

"Kyleigh," Michael not-so-nicely welcomes me as I make it to the steps. He starts to walk past me, but I grab him, keeping him in place.

"No, no, no, no." I refuse to let him go as he tries to go see Brody. I feel my whole body tense in fear. "Leave him alone." I pull him back, starting to push him back into the house, my strength only working to a point with him. His body is hot to the touch, and it's all from anger.

"No, no, I want to talk to this kid." He looks over my head the whole time, letting me only imagine what Brody is doing. I think about Michael running over to him and pummeling him to the ground, making me flinch.

"Michael, get inside, now. Please," I order, making him look down at me with a defiant look. "Please," I beg once more, making him sigh.

"Whatever." He rolls his eyes, turning around and walking into the house. I follow after, not before waving goodbye to Brody.

"Kyleigh," Michael starts as soon as I close the door.

"Michael, don't be mad," I order, looking over to him. I start with the calm approach not the attack one, hoping it'll make him more lenient. Mom just walked into the foyer, looking at the two of us with a nervous expression.

"Don't be mad? Mad doesn't even begin to describe what I'm feeling!" He has a manic smile with a shake of his head, making me sigh. He's obviously lost his patience which pisses me off even more.

"Michael, you can't be mad!" I call back, making him chuckle darkly.

"You're not allowed to go on dates," he enlightens me. My breathing is fast as I think about how unfair this was.

"Michael, that's your rule. Mom said it was fine," I state, bringing mom into this for help.

"What the hell, Mom?" He whips his head to her, and she sighs, shrugging. She doesn't raise her voice, knowing there was no point.

"She's almost 16, Michael," mom reasons, making him scoff. His skin slightly pales but not for long before he speaks again.

"Not 16 yet," he responds.

"Michael, it was one date. Get over it. I'm going to have to start dating eventually," I reason, knowing that if every date I went on ended like this, I wouldn't be dating ever. I would say that's the point of this whole thing, but I know he's not thinking that far ahead.
