because the view's a little nicer, up here my dear - clouds

"Wake up," I hear and groan, flipping myself over so my body is pushed into the bed more.

"You two better wake up or we'll dump ice cubes down your backs," another voice warns and I whine, kicking my feet in attempt to keep them away.

"Shut up," someone next to me cries and I quickly sit up on my knees, seeing Harper. Memories flood me and I look over to see Michael and Cole standing by the bed, looking at us.

"Harp," I start, tapping her shoulder but she hits my hand. "Harper."

"Go away." She continues to try to hit me so I slap her head. "What?" she exasperates, sitting up finally.

"Breakfast time," Michael says happily and I look at them with confusion. Usually this went the other way around. Harper and I would be sent to slap them and threaten them till they wake up. Not them having to wake us up.

"Why the hell are you two awake?" Harper asks and I laugh at how our thoughts are so similar, and how groggy her voice is.

"You sound like a man." I laugh and she gives me a glare that just makes me laugh harder. I fall onto the bed with no strength left in my legs, but flip my body over so I can see everyone.

"We didn't sleep last night," Cole explains. I look up to him, his eyes slightly looking around my messy room. He shouldn't be looking around my room. Neither of them should be in here.

"Wait. Why are you guys in here? You just came in? Go. Get out!" I shoo, shaking my hands at them and they laugh as they leave.

"Pancakes for breakfast," M calls from the hallway when they leave without closing the door.

"Rude," I mumble, climbing out of bed and grabbing my phone. "Dammit," I groan, realizing I forgot to charge it. It still has 50% but it annoys me when I forget.

"Do we have to get up?" Harper whines.

"Yes, Harp. Come on. Before they eat them all," I rush and she gets up, following me down the hall.

We slide into the kitchen, grabbing plates and pancakes from the counter before sitting at the set table. Becca and mom are the only ones missing so we both dig in.

"These are so good," I moan out, starting to look at aunt Maxi to thank her but someone else speaks.

"You're welcome." I look past M to see Cole eating happily and I give him an incredulous look.

"You made these?" I question and he nods, seemingly proud.

"Yeah. The past month all he's been doing is cooking," Harper starts to fill me in, so I look away from Cole. "Some stuff is good. Although his Eggplant Parmesan tasted like crap," she explains.

"I didn't know that the salsa mom buys also comes in a similar container as the marinara sauce she buys," he defends and I laugh thinking about that.

"Of course it's my fault," Mama Ang sighs, making me giggle.

"That sounds disgusting," I state and Harper nods.

I look over to the doorway and see Becca and mom walking in together. Something seems a little off with Becca as she sits next to Harper with her plate, but of course Harper fixes it like she fixes everything.

"Bec, do you think it's that hard to tell the difference between marinara sauce and salsa?"

"What?" she questions at first, so we get into the conversation again and I sit back and watch as our families mix together, just like they always have. I wonder if it will stay like this forever. How could it?
