you only have to be brave enough to see it - brave
"Go, Pumas!" the crowds cheer and I relax into the atmosphere, trying to distract my thoughts from the fact that I'm sitting here alone in the bleachers, watching a hockey game.
I watch as the boys slam into each other and slide the puck across the floor, shaves of ice kicking up behind their skates, making me shiver and cuddle into my hoodie more.
Technically it's not my hoodie, actually. Cole gave it to me before the game today so I could have some sort of hockey thing to wear, and I couldn't resist. It smells like him, even as my nose is freezing over in the below freezing atmosphere.
"And there goes Locklift, down the rink, puck on stick and now he passes it to Glander, who... scores! That's game, Puma's winning!" the announcer cheers, and everyone on my side of the rink stands and cheers, along with me.
"Whoo!" I cry out, and I see Cole move his head to me, and the way his chest moves, I can tell he's laughing at me, making me look around and sit down, and stupid grin on my face. His buddies are all celebrating and he shakes his head to look away from me, joining in on the end game festivities.
As the stands clear out, I walk down to the locker rooms, waiting outside of them, my whole body full of jitters and excitement to see him.
It's been a week since Thanksgiving and since then, I've tried to just enjoy our relationship. Even though it's hard to ignore Harper and Michael, and all the dirty looks I get, I go through it with him, and it makes it all possible.
Which then only makes me feel more shitty because it shows how much I really don't care about Harper more than me, no matter how many times I've said it.
"Hello, beautiful," I hear and smile up at him as he smirks. I giggle and jump in his arms, for once not caring who's watching. He's all sweaty as he holds onto me, but I can care less, enjoying the warmth in a stark contrast to the icy air surrounding us. His hands are wrapped around under my butt and heat is spreading throughout my body at the intimate touch.
"Hi," I reply, giving him a kiss on the cheek before he places me back on my feet and we separate. "I think your parents left," I say and he nods, looking up and putting his arm around my waist to guide me out of the rink.
"Are you hungry?" he asks, leading us to the truck and I sigh.
"Sort of." I shrug and he looks down at me. I look to him with a small smile and he laughs, opening the door as I get in.
"I was thinking we could go out to get dinner," he mentions and I smile at him with a shocked expression.
"There's no McDonalds around here," I joke and he rolls his eyes, turning on the vehicle and starting us down the road.
"Very funny. I was thinking of actually taking you out. We can go to the diner," he offers, but that thought makes me squirm and he reaches over to grab my hand in his. "How about Gino's? It's out of town, and you love their bread sticks," he reminds me and I nod, suddenly excited.
"Yeah. Let's go," I agree and he laughs, turning down the street and bringing my hand up to his, giving it a kiss.
We go down the roads, humming to the music and making it to Gino's quickly. We rush inside to get to the warmth and get seated, excited. I look around, a little uncomfortable with my attire, but then I look at his eyes and nothing matters.
"What do you want?" he asks, looking down at the menu but I don't have to.
"Obviously the meatball pizza," I state and he smiles at me. He closes the menu and nods.
