The next morning came and Drista didn't waste any of her time. She left her room bright and early, determined to get the blood and go home.
"Good morning!" Bad noticed her leave the room.
"Good morning, I'm leaving now. I might um, need to stay here again tonight." She wasn't sure what today would bring.
"That's fine, you're welcome to come stay again tonight. Before you go, Skeppy wants to apologize.
"Make it quick, I need to get moving."
Bad went and got Skeppy, bringing him to her. "Go ahead Skeppy."
Skeppy rolled his abnormal eyes. "I'm sorry for almost hurting you. That was uncalled for and unprofessional." It was clear Bad had told him exactly what to say.
Drista didn't pay attention to his words. She focused on his mouth. Noticing that his teeth looked sharp and pointy. Resembling the mouth of a dragon. His teeth didn't look like that yesterday. "I...yeah whatever, I accept your apology." She didn't have time to wonder, it was time to leave.
Drista said goodbye before going outside and hopping up on the horse. She knew where to go after studying the map.
The closer she got to the village, the windier it seemed to get. Snow was constantly blowing in her face. Causing her to be almost blinded. Her horse kept trying to turn away from the harsh freezing wind.
"Come on! We have to hurry, we're running out of time!"
The horse had enough, and threw Drista off. She landed in a snowbank, as the horse ran off.
"Fuck!" Drista struggled to stand up, And shielded her face from the snow. If there was ever a time she felt like giving up, it was now.
She continued walking in what she assumed was the right direction. She used her sword as a makeshift cane. The cold made her body numb, making it incredibly difficult to walk.
She only made it 10 minutes without the horse, before collapsing in the snow. Her body had turned purple from the cold. Reminding her of her friend, the one she didn't want to disappoint. Her eyes fell shut, as she laid helpless in the snow.
Until help came along. A kind stranger from the Ryoko village brought her into their home. Saving her from an icy death. They wrapped her in blankets, and slowly brought her temperature up.
Drista woke again after a couple hours. Her whole body was stinging. She was frostbitten for sure. She was in an unexpected nest of blankets.
"H-huh?" She groaned in discomfort, but enjoyed the warmth she was feeling. "W-where..." She rubbed her eyes and looked around. "A house..." She whispered to herself.
The stranger noticed her awake, and approached her slowly. "Hey, you're awake. Can you feel anything?"
Drista stared at the stranger, and moved different parts of her body. "Yeah...kind of..." The tips of her fingers were still purple, and completely numb. She also found it difficult to open and close her hands.
"The cold got you a little bit. What are you doing up here? You look to be just a child."
Drista frowned, and cuddled into the blankets. "None of your business."
"A sassy child..." The stranger laughed. "I'm not going to hurt you. You can call me Puffy. What can I call you?"
"Drista..."
"Okay, great. Do you want something to eat?" Puffy offered.
"No, I need to continue my quest." Drista sniffled and sat up.
