Chapter 4

Varian's POV

"What do you want with us?",Silas said growling and for some reason,it made me let out a growl.

"Watch your tone man",I said in a calm voice but the aura I released made him shut up.

"I mean no harm. After all you're supposed to be thanking me for saving your sister",I said nonchalantly.

At that moment, he lowered his head in shame as he realised I had indeed saved his sister.

"I'm sorry for my hostility, it's just so hard for me to easily trust people since they always end up betraying us",he said in a voice full of pain.

"What happened?",I asked him as I realised there was a reason why they were being chased by those men.

At this point,his sister was peacefully sleeping and I couldn't help but smile at the innocent child.

No child had to go through this. Having men thrice your age wanting to make you bear their pups.

So disgusting!!

"Our father, right after our mom was killed 2 weeks ago ,banished us from the pack" he said in a broken voice.

"Isn't the Alpha supposed to be the one who banishes pack members from the pack?",I asked him totally confused.

"Yeah. Our dad was the Alpha of our pack",he said.

So he was also banished by family.  Interesting.

"I could take the banishment but seeing my little sister go through this pain hurts me a lot. I always try my best to not break down when she cries for our mum",he said with raw pain dripping from each word he said.

"And since my sister is of Alpha blood,most of the high ranking wolves in my pack and the neighbouring packs want to make her bear their pups. Of course my dad gave them the freaking permissionto do so.",he continued.

"Which pack are you from?",I asked him.

"The Crescent pack "

I sighed as I patted him on the back. Seems like we were in the same situation.

"Do you mind if my sister and I tag along with you? After all you're obviously a powerful creature and you'd be able to protect her when I can't ",he asked me with an obvious plea in his voice.

"Sure thing man,I wouldn't mind adding two more members to the group",I said chuckling.

It was so funny to have someone call me powerful .

"What do you mean by "group"?",he asked .

"Well I was also banished by my brother a month ago and since then I've been travelling in these woods",I said.

"Damn man,your brother banished you?",he asked in shock.

I just nodded then proceeded to walk, with him falling in step beside me seconds later with his sister in his arms.

We've been walking for three days now,taking a few rests along the way for the sake of the ten year old travelling with us.

"Hey Vari",a little voice says.

I look down to see Silas's sister tugging on my trousers.

"Yes Alice",i said crouching down to her height.

She and I had become best buds ever since she woke up from her sleep two days ago.

Who knew she had a great sense of humour? For a child being hunted,she sure was cheerful.

I watched in amusement as she looked at me with her puppy eyes.

"Can you carry me? Brother said he is tired",she said looking at me with those adorable puppy eyes.

"Alright,one last time ",I said before carrying her in my arms.

She snuggled deeper into my chest and slung her arms around my neck.

"Hello there",a voice said.

"Who's there?" ,I asked .

Silas became alert and started searching for any threat.

"In your head dickward ",the same voice said again but this time it was laughing.

Silas looked at me with confusion before realisation dawned upon him.

"I think it's your creature talking to you" ,he said, gesturing for me to talk with my creature.

"Who are you?",I asked the creature inside me.

"I'm Aries",he said.

"I'm Varian"

"I know."

"What creature are we?",I asked him,getting straight to the point.

"We aren't just a creature Varain,always keep that in mind",he said .

I couldn't help but roll my eyes. Aries was so full of himself.

"We are the last shifter to remain on this planet but I don't think we are the last anymore since you shifted for the first time hence awakening the others",he said nonchalantly.

"Wait!,are you telling me that I am a shifter? A creature who hasn't been seen for over a 1000 years?" ,I asked him in shock.

Shifters were extinct. They were killed during the war of the fallen . What kind of messed up lie is this being telling me?

At that moment, the knowledge coursing through my brain made itself known as I came to know that I was indeed a shifter.

I transferred a sleeping Alice from my arms to Silas's as I continued my chat.

"What do you mean by the others?" ,I asked him.

"You see,once you shifted ,you summoned the others. And they will soon be searching for you ,for you are their king ",he said.

"You are royalty because unlike the others, you can shift into any creature you want,of course with you growing in a pack,the first creature you turned into was a wolf",he said, rolling his eyes at my choice of form.

"Couldn't you choose a dragon or even a  tiger?",he asked  ,shaking his head.

Blocking his endless rant about how special and powerful I am,we came into a field.

It looked like no one had ever claimed this land before seeing at it was on the mountains,overlooking the whole werewolf kingdom.

I motioned for Silas to stay with Alice as I went to scout the area.Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in my neck and something being released into my blood.

I turned around to find four men ,all in black suits with two holding an unconscious Silas and a sleeping Alice.

With all my attempts at fighting being futile,I slowly succumbed to the darkness which engulfed me as if it missed me.

What in the hell just happened?
