Rosemary spent hours before the party making sure she looked flawless for Anthony. Straightening her naturally curly hair, curling her eye lashes and adding blush to her cheeks.

Earlier, she had stopped at the mall with her volley ball team mate, Cassie Beauchesne, to pick out an outfit which would stand out. At six feet, Cassie was one of the tallest girls in the school.Cinnamon in complexion, with long, sleek hair and large hazel eyes, she had no shortage of male attention.

"This one looks good," Cassie said holding up a black dress.

Rosemary shook her head without looking at it, her eyes moving through a rack of dresses. Widening her eyes, she pulled out a pink sheath dress. Pressing it against her, she turned towards Cassie.

"What do you think?"

Cassie smiled, lifting her thumb up in approval.

"I'm gonna try it on," Rosemary said, running to the dressing room.

As she slipped into the short dress, Cassie talked to her from the other side of the door.

"I don't know," she said. " He's so quiet in class. Do you think he's even kissed anyone before?"

"You should get to know him, that's all I'm saying."

"Yeah, he does kind of look like Justin Bieber. You know, the pretty type," Cassie said, laughing afterwards.

"No I don't think so. He looks more like a younger version of Jax from sons of anarchy. I never really notice before, but he's kind of hot," Rosemary said.

Because she knew Cassie's taste in boys so well, she exaggerated Chris's appeal to make him seem dangerous and mysterious.

Cassie went quiet. Rosemary knew her sales pitch had worked. Pushing the door open, she twirled around in front of her.

"Hot," Cassie said, giving her a high-five.

By the time Rosemary arrived home, she had already convinced her friend to hook up with Chris at the party.

She was putting on her heels when her mother knocked on the door.

"Come in."

Her mother walked in with a bright smile. By the look on her face, Rosemary already knew Chris was waiting down stairs.

She ran down and found him standing in the entrance.

"Hey," he said, scratching the back of his neck. He was wearing a white t-shirt that was too large for his thin frame, tight skinny jeans and dirty converses sneakers. His eyes gleamed under the slight concealment of stray blonde locks. His lips were shaped in a way that allowed his lazy smile to brighten the rest of his face. Without effort, his golden beauty came alive, and, as if seeing him for the first time, Rosemary could not look away.

She stared at him, thinking about his strange association with Anthony again. Scowling, she approached him and took his hand. Her mother was watching them from the stairs.

When they were outside, she let go of his hand, turning to him with a frown. "Why didn't you bother to wear something more appropriate?"

He gazed at his clothes and tilted his head to the side, shrugging. Lifting his eyes, he ran his hand through his hair. "I didn't think it was a big deal."

"You look like a hobo."

Before he had the chance to respond, she forced herself to laugh, patting him on the back.

With his mouth partly open, Chris followed her down the sidewalk.

"She should be coming anytime, now," Rosemary said.
