As Christmas was approaching and Harry seemed to be avoiding all mentions of the kiss, Draco was beginning to get impatient. He had promised Harry time, but over two weeks? It would be Christmas soon enough, today was the 22nd of December, and he missed Harry.
They still spent time together, but it was as if Harry had put up an invisible barrier between them. It had worked to Draco's advantage in preparing Harry's Christmas gift. Getting ahold of something worthy of Harry was hard. Especially difficult because when Hermione was able to sneak him out of the house, nothing suited his liking.
Draco had decided on designing his own piece for Harry in the end. He paid extra to rush the order, so while that was being created he had time to brew a variety of protective potions. The book from Sev had some strong protective charms in it, so he tested those out as well. Charming it had taken a lot longer, and a lot more magic than he thought it would. He had to take a few pepper up potions to recuperate.
Currently, he was waiting for Harry to return from who knows where. He wanted to speak with him before Pansy came over and they exchanged gifts, but that didn't seem to be what was happening. Draco was frustrated. Harry would continuously disappear without telling him where he was going. If he didn't know better, he would think he was going off on dates.
Harry had a long day, and he was furious. He had gone to the Ministry to finalize the plans for Mrs. Malfoy arriving. Kingsley then told him that a tethering spell would have to be cast to make sure that she was linked to Harry and couldn't leave, and that anything she was bringing with her would have to be scanned.
An impromptu trip to France was not what Harry expected. It resulted in him being late to his meeting with Oliver, Cho, and Minerva. The trip to meet Mrs. Malfoy just further infuriated him. The home she was residing in looked wonderful, but it felt lifeless. She was permitted usage of a house elf once a week and with no magic usage allowed, it appeared to be falling in shambles.
Harry couldn't even lie and say he understood why she was living like this.
"Mrs. Malfoy saved my life, and I refuse to allow her to continue living like this."
"Mr. Potter."
"Do not "Mr. Potter" me, I'm tired of this. You cannot choose when to treat me like an adult and when to treat me like a child. I have been acting as an adult since I was 11 years old and defeated Voldemort with my bare hands.
You will give her back her wand, with minimum spell usage if you want, but it will be returned", Harry said cooly. "I want to speed up the process of going through the Manor so that she will be allowed to move back in. Her year is almost up, and she has done more than enough to prove that she doesn't have any evil tricks up her sleeves."
"Fine. Have you packed Mrs. Malfoy?"
"I have Kingsley."
"Harry will be going through your bags. Preliminary measure of course."
"That is fine", she said with a pointed look at Harry.
He bit back his argument, and barely looked through the bag. Mostly, he was just reaching out for any dark magic.
"How have you been Mrs. Malfoy?"
"Please, call me Narcissa. Harry. I've been better of course, but I'm excited to see my Draco again. Thank you for taking care of him."
"Of course Narcissa. He takes care of me just the same."
"He looks so much happier. I appreciate all of the letters and photos. I'm sorry I wasn't allowed to reply."
