If there was anything more awkward and uncertain than Draco and Harry sharing a bed, it was Draco's thought of how to leave.

As the two sat next to each other, Draco found his mind wondering once again. He shook his head to clear his thoughts. It was too early for this. Who's to say he couldn't enjoy being here with Harry? This is his new beginning and he will use that to his advantage.

Draco was about to open his mouth when he heard the faint scratching of a pen.

"Harry?"

"Hmm?"

"I think someone is writing something?", he asked, rather confused as he had slept through the whole calendar ordeal.

"Oh! C'mere I think you'll really like this."

Harry got out of bed and grabbed Draco's hand, bringing him across the room to the wall calendar.

"It's crazy how nice the simple gesture of hand holding can feel.", thought Draco.

"Draco are you even listening?!"

"Sorry, I just... you're holding my hand.", he squeaked.

Harry looked down at their intertwined hands. He didn't even remember grabbing it.

"Oh sorry I didn't even realize."

Harry immediately let go and ran a hand through his hair.

"It's okay.", said Malfoy slowly.

He needed to be calculated in his response.

"I'm just not used to... casual affection? Merlin that sounds sad but you can imagine that my father wasn't very affectionate. I think the last hug I got was from Voldemort and that was before he realized I was betraying him."

"What he HUGGED you?"

"You didn't know? I thought lots of people were talking about it? It was extremely awkward and I was terrified. It still gives me nightmares."

"I can't believe no one mentioned that to me. The thought is kind of funny if I'm honest. I can't imagine that happening."

Draco rolled his eyes.

"Yes laugh it up Potter. I was being hugged by the dark lord while you were playing dead."

"I wouldn't say playing per say. I did actually die. The boy who lived 2.0. New and improved version."

"That's just... something."

"I'm surprised your mother didn't tell you. She lied to Voldemort and told him I was dead."

"You can imagine we haven't spoken much about the war. Or in general. I'm not allowed to know where she is yet. They're treating our case very differently as you can see. Even though we ended up on the right side, we still have past sins to make up for. I got off the easiest."

"You played a big part in helping us win."

"Harry I let the death eaters INTO the school. People died because of me."

"Draco that's what you were meant to do. Besides you confessed everything to McGonagall. Do you know how many lives you saved? You were able to get word out to me to give me enough time to get to the forest."

Harry glanced up at the wall, the calendar having been forgotten.

"Oh speaking of, that was her message from earlier."

Draco didn't even bother changing the subject again and listened intently as Harry explained how the calendar worked.

"Is it easier than an owl?"
