Chapter 40: I Love You

"Marinette!" "Adrien!" I mock him as we get into the car. "Mari how could you even think I'm cheating on you?" "I know you're not, but you've been really secretive and I want to know why."

"I'll tell you once it's time. I promise." "Adrien-" "Just trust me okay?" He says as he cups my cheek. "Ugh you're lucky I love you." He chuckles and gives me a soft kiss. "I love you more." "Enough to tell me what you're hiding?" He smiles and shakes his head. "Sorry Mari, but not yet." I sigh and sit back in the seat. "Fine."

"Finally! You're home! I was trying to bake us some brownies but I'm failing miserably. Can you help me Marinette?" Emilie asks as we enter the house. "Yeah." "Actually I wanted to talk to you about watching the sunrise." Adrien says. "We can do that tomorrow."

"No!" He shouts as soon as I finish my sentence. I furrow my eyebrows. "Why not?" "I thought it would be fun if we watched the sunrise after prom." "Is this your way of asking me Agreste?" "Come on Mari. Do you really think that this is the way I'd ask you to prom?" "Maybe." I say with a shrug. "Well it is so will you?"

"Adrien!" Emilie says. "Mom I'm joking. I already planned out how I'm going to ask you." Adrien says as he wraps his arms around my waist. I smile and wrap my arms around his neck. "And how's that?" "You'll just have to wait and see."

"If it's not good enough just know I'll reject you." I joke. "Come on, have you even seen me?" He says as he runs a hand through his hair.

"I'm irresistible." He adds. I roll my eyes and giggle. "Keep telling yourself that Agreste." "Haha very funny Mari, but you know it's true." He says and kisses me. "I'll never admit it." He rolls his eyes. "Whatever."

"Mari are you okay?" Adrien asks as he rushes into the bathroom to hold my hair back. I would answer but I'm too busy throwing up. He grabs a hair tie and pulls my hair into a bun so I don't vomit on it.

When I finish Adrien helps me walk to the couch. "I thought you were doing so good though." "I was, but the chemo is hitting me like a truck right now." I lay down on the couch and rest my head on his lap. He starts to stroke my hair and I smile. He never fails to make me feel relaxed.

"We should probably go see Tikki and Plagg." "No I'm fine. It's just the chemo, I promise." "Mari-" "Please Agreste? I'm too exhausted to go just for them to tell me I'm fine." "Well I'll carry you." He says as he lifts me up bridal style.

"Adrien! Put me down." I say with a slight giggle. "Why? This will be good practice for me." He says with a smile. I blush and roll my eyes. He chuckles and lays me back on the couch.

"I love you Mari." He starts leaning down to kiss me but I put my finger on his nose and push him away. "I love you too, but have vomit breath. I need to brush me teeth first." I say and try to stand up. He gently grabs my wrist to stop me. "Let me help." "I'm fine Agreste. I can do it on my own."

He completely ignores me and puts his arm around my waist to steady me. He slowly leads me into the bathroom where he puts the toothpaste on the toothbrush for me. "Thank you Agreste." He smiles and places a kiss on my cheek. "Anything for you Mari."

After I brush my teeth Adrien leads me to the bed and we both lay down on it. He has his arms wrapped around me as I do the same. We make small talk until we both drift off to sleep.

"Has Adrikins asked you yet?" Chloe asks as we walk towards our next class. I shake my head. "Not yet. What about you? Luka asked yet?" She smiles and nods. "Tell me everything!"

"Okay well he took me on a date and we were talking about prom. He took out a beautiful necklace- this one." She grabs the necklace around her neck and holds it out to me. "Oh my gosh it's gorgeous!"

"I know right! After he gave me the necklace, he gave me a box filled with my favorite! Chocolate! When I finished looking at the box I placed it aside and he layed a tray filled with rose petals the spelled out 'prom?' Then-" She smiles and a shade of pink coats her cheeks. "After I said yes... He told me he's in love with me and he kissed me!"

"Oh my gosh! That's amazing Chloe! You guys are so cute." "Thank you. And Adrien already told me how he's going to ask you and I promise it's going to be amazing!" "Tell me!" She smiles and shakes her head.

"No can do Dupain-Cheng. I promised I'd keep it a secret." "Not even a little hint?" "None at all Mari." Adrien says as he comes up from behind me and wraps his arms around my waist.

I groan and roll my eyes. "You love teasing me." He chuckles. "Well it wouldn't be fun if I didn't." "Chloe please at least tell me when this idiot is gonna ask." Chloe shrugged and walked away.

"Chloe!" I shout after her but she ignores me and continues walking. Adrien chuckles. "Soon very very soon." He says as he tucks his face in the crook of my neck.

"If you can't handle the anticipation now, then how are you going to handle it when you find out I'm planning to propose." I turn around and give him a confused look.

"I'm the future of course." He adds and gives me a kiss. "Well it's not happening anytime soon so I assume I'll be more patient in the future." He chuckles. "We'll see about that." "Stop messing with me and tell me when your going to ask me to prom!"

"Turn around." I whip my head around expecting to see something about prom but he was just teasing me. He starts laughing and I turn and hit his arm. "Stop it!" "I'm sorry I had to do it." He says while laughing as he gives me a quick kiss.

"I hate you." "Please. You know you love me." I roll my eyes and give him another kiss before we walk to class.

also this story is going on way longer than I expected. I only planned for at most 30 chapters but I guess I was wrong
