Chapter 17: Caden
Staying in the hospital sucked. I mean, it sucked ass. There was nothing to do, nothing to watch, no hot nurses like in the TV shows... It was bullshit. The only thing that kept me going was Silah.
She'd come in early in the morning and ask how I was feeling until it was time for school. Then after school she would come back and tell me all the stupid gossip. I'd tell her about my day as she would do her homework.
God she was beautiful. I mean it. Whenever she was doing her work, the grip on her pencil was so delicate, her hair would fall in her face, she would bite her lip if she was unsure. Everything she did made me fall more and more in love with her.
And I never thought I would feel this way.
Silah didn't mention my mother and I was happy because of that. Having a bad life at home wasn't going to stop me though. Silah had convinced herself that she could help me pass high school. I wasn't going to start and argument with her, so I just shrugged. She took that as a yes and off she went.
Silah had filled me in on how we did with our English project. Katie and Dylan has actually came to the hospital to check up on me. They were dating now, and 'happily in love'. Silah and I both rolled our eyes to that but I was generally happy. Everything was going well.
Flynn had visited a few times, but he always found some reason not to stay to long. I thought he still had a thing for Silah, but I could be wrong. Treyvon visited only once. That was mostly because Silah had to drag him to the hospital in the first place.
Trey was always scared of hospitals. He had watched his mother die in one of them and he hated them. But he managed to walk threw the front doors and see me. I wasn't sure if it was the meds or I was actually turning into a pussy. I teared up a little bit when I saw him. It just proved that he actually wasn't all the bad. He was still my best friend.
I woke up one morning to Silah's beautifully soft singing voice. I blinked and waited for my eyes to adjust. When they did, I saw Silah sitting in her chair. She had her headphones in and was completely oblivious to the world while she scribbled something on a piece of paper. I watched her coco brown hair twist around her face as she bobbed her head to the music softly. Her eyes slowly rose from the paper and connected with mine. Dazzling blue eyes stared back at me. A smile formed on my lips and I watched her mirror me. She pulled out her headphones and stopped the music.
"Morning Caden..." She whispered, taking my hand in hers and stroking it with her thumb.
"Hello little bird." I winked playfully and watched her cheeks go a bright red.
"Don't call me that." She giggled. God what a beautiful sound.
"Fine..." I whispered.
I tugged on her hand and pulled her onto the small hospital bed with me. Her legs tangled with mine. I wrapped one arm firmly around her waist while the other stroked away her hair. Silah's hands made their way to my neck and she left them there. A smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
"If they catch us like this one more time, I won't be allowed back."
I watched her, mesmerized by every little thing she did. Her blue gaze locked on mine while her fingers ran circles at the base of my neck. Her plump lips formed a pout. I suppressed the urge to smirk at her. She was so.... Perfect.
"Then we better not get caught." I laughed, tugging her waist closer to me. I just wanted her closer. Always closer.
"I can't... I have to go. I just stopped by to check on you."
