Chapter 20: Silah
My first instinct was to run. To turn and run as fast as I could.
But then I felt Parker's hand on my lower back, pushing me forward to the waitress who stood at a podium. I wanted to smack Parker's hand away but the playful mood had disappeared. I was now a bundle of nerves.
"Hi, Welcome to Le Buffet. How may we help you?" The waitress said in a chirpy voice.
"Table for two please. Booth." Parker said in a calm soothing voice.
My eyes were glued to Caden's slumped figure in the corner of the room. I couldn't control the fidgeting of my hands. Parker kept his hand on my lower back and pushed me after the waitress who was being us to our seat. We were far enough away from Caden that he couldn't hear us. But I sat in the perfect spot to watch him.
I hadn't realized I was staring until Parker snapped his fingers in front of my face. I shook my head and blushed a deep scarlet. I picked up my menu to hide my face behind.
"You know him or something?" Parker asked, glancing over his shoulder at Caden.
"He's... Uhm... Yeah..." I said vaguely.
"Who is he?"
"No one."
"But-"
"I'm going to get a hot chocolate, what are you getting?" I said, trying ferociously to change the subject.
Parker obviously got the hint. He frowned but shrugged his shoulder and picked up his own menu, glancing at it. I bit my lip and looked between Caden and Parker. Caden looked up from his coffee and glanced around the café. He did exactly what I did when his gaze landed on me.
He froze.
Then his gaze switched to Parker's back, most likely wondering what I was doing. But he had no right. If I was out with Parker, Caden had no part in it. No matter what I did.
Caden looked back at me and raised his eyebrow. I swallowed nervously before looking back at my menu. I just hoped and prayed he left.
No such luck. He got up.
And started walking towards us.
I kicked Parker's leg, causing him to look up from his menu and glare at me. He let out a small whimper and rubbed his leg.
"The hell was that for Silah?!" Parker said incredulously.
"Can we-" I started to say. I stopped when I looked up and saw Caden's looming figure above us.
"Silah..." Caden started softly.
"Caden." I spat venomously, pushing up from my seat.
"Can I talk to you for a minute...?" He asked, glancing between Parker and I.
"No." I said sternly.
"But-"
"I said, No."
I glared up at him, refusing to be swayed by his beautiful puppy dog brown eyes. He bit his bottom lip, causing me to shift from foot to foot. Caden reached out, his fingers brushing against my arm and causing goosebumps to form.
"Please... Just let me talk to you." He pleaded.
I opened my mouth to say something but felt strong arms wrap around my waist, pulling me backwards against rock hard abs. I glanced up and saw Parker glaring at Caden. I placed my hands on Parker's tense arm that was wrapped around my waist. He glanced down at me with his darling blue eyes.
