Chapter 5: Caden
I watched her drive away and felt something else go with her. I don't know what happened on the field. While she yelled at me all I could think about is how beautiful she was and how right she was. I had turned into a jerk. I can thank my step dad for that. He taught me to never trust anyone, take nothing seriously, and smoke the green till you don't have any more.
It was like a switch that went off while she screamed. She told me all the things no one ever dared to say. And I knew I needed her. I needed her to kick me and pull me back to reality. I needed her to bring out the good me that had to be down there somewhere. So I kissed her. And nothing had ever felt better than her lips against mine.
I trudged back to the lacrosse field, Silah on my mind the whole time. The way her eyes could flash from a loving blue to a fierce 'Im going to kill you' blue. The way her lips pursed when she was thinking about what to say. The way her hips swayed when she walked...
"Caden? Yo! Bro! You aight?" Flynn asked. He handed me my helmet and I grabbed my stick off the bench.
"Fine." I said quickly.
"That was one fine piece of ass there Caden. Mind if I get in on that?" Treyvon chuckled. I grabbed him by the collar of his jersey.
"You ever talk about her like that and you will never see light again." I said threateningly. I released Treyvon's jersey and shoved him away.
I trudged onto the field with a new desire on my mind.
