Chapter 8: Silah
Ever since I picked up Cecil two days ago, he's been on edge. And won't leave me alone. I sighed as I swung open the front door to the high school. Cecil was on my heels. I quickly raced to my 1st period. I spun around to Cecil, he glared over my shoulder but I ignored it.
"It's Monday. We both have school Cecil. Go to class." I snapped. Cecil lowered his gaze and nodded. I embraced him in a hug and kissed his head. "See you at lunch." I smiled and raced into class.
Finally... Some space.
"Hey Sil." Doanna smiled and took her seat next to me. Damn... So close. I gave her a weary smile.
"Hey Doe." I mumbled and slunk back in my seat. I heard him come in before I saw him. His loud deep chuckle sounded like velvet against my skin. I shivered and turned. His brown eyes met with my blue eyes. I turned away sharply and plastered a scowl on my face.
"If you keep doing that, it'll become permanent." Doanna smirked. I glared at her.
"If you keep bugging me, that nose won't be straight forever." I smirked evilly. Her perfect brown eyes went wide and she frowned.
"Screw." She muttered. I cracked a smile and we both burst out laughing. I clutched my stomach till the laughter subsided. Doanna covered her mouth to stifle her giggles.
"Something funny girls?" The sub, Mr. Cress, asked.
He raised a perfectly etched red eyebrow, running a hand through his curly red locks. This dude looked 20, how was he a sub? We didn't get along, that was an understatement. I hated him, with passion. I gave him a daring smile. He responded with his lips formed into a grim line.
"Well?" He coughed.
I bit my lip from making a snide comment. I glanced around the room, all eyes on me. I groaned mentally and focused back on Cress.
"Sorry Sir, we were just having a discussion." I finally replied. I caught Doanna's slight giggle.
"About?"
I bit my tongue to keep from laughing.
"Well, about screws." I said, keeping as much expression hidden as I could. Doanna erupted into hyena laughter as did the rest of the class. Mr. Cress' eyes narrowed on me.
"Name?" He questioned through his teeth. I sighed, unamused. He knew my damn name.
"Silah Morrow."
"Detention Ms. Morrow." Cress smiled smugly. I stared at him, furious. I stood from my seat and glared at him. His eyes went worried for a second, then back to bored. Everyone held their breath.
"Why." I ordered, clutching my desk to keep me from advancing on him. Uncontrollable anger rolled off of me in waves. What the hell? I'm usually so in control.
"Take a seat Morrow." Cress ordered. I didn't move. I, instead, slammed my fists onto the desk. It caused a large BANG!
"Why should I get a fucking detention!" I shrieked. God I was irrational right now. Cress shrunk back from my outburst.
"Don't make me call security!"
"DO IT! I FUCKING DARE YOU!" I yelled. Two large arms swung around my waist, hauling me backwards. I made a growling noise in my throat. Cress stopped cowering an stood straight.
"Mr...?" Cress asked, looking at the person pulling me backwards.
"Brown." Caden's voice filled my ears. He tightened his grip and pulled me to the door.
"Take her to the principal." Cress waved his hand dismissively.
I contemplated my options, but gave up and allowed myself to be hauled out of the classroom. As soon as we were outside, Caden slammed me against the wall. His beautiful brown eyes worried and furious. He placed his hands on either side of my head, giving me no room to move. I glared at him.
"What?!" I finally snapped after a few second of silence.
"What's your problem!" He demanded.
"You." I shot back. He wasn't amused. Caden rolled his eyes and sighed.
"You just blew up on a teacher and have to get escorted to the principal. What's up with you?" His voice got softer. I almost believed he cared... Almost.
"Oh like you care." I scoffed.
"I care... A lot actually."
"Whatever."
"Silah..."
"Take me to the principal! Now!" I ordered. Caden sighed and took my hand, guiding me to my first principal conference.
*****
The principal was nice enough. He told me I had two detentions and to apologize to Mr. Cress. That was what I was loathing. As I trudged back to class, Caden firmly clasping my hand, and only a few minutes till class ended, my mind wandered to Cecil. He was so edgy lately. It was slightly off. I yanked my hand away from Caden's and swung open the door. The class froze, all eyes plastered on me.
"Ehem." I cleared my throat. Mr. Cress smiled smugly at me. Oh how much I wished I could go and smack that off his face.
"Yes Ms. Morrow?"
"I'm sorry..." I whispered. Caden elbowed my back and I grunted. I shot him a death glare that he avoided. I looked back at Cress. His hands pressed eloquently against his chin as he assessed me. I sighed deeply.
"I. Am. Sorry." I spat out each word like it was poison. Cress looked appeased for the moment. He nodded and continued with the lesson. I quickly got away from Caden, who hovered behind me.
"You alright?" Doanna whispered once I sat down. I gave her a sharp nod and stuffed my notes into my bag. I could NOT wait to get out of this class.
The bell ran seconds later. I was out the door before the bell finished ringing.
