Chapter 4: Silah
I sat in the already purring car, waiting for Cecil to come so I could take him to his lacrosse practice. He finally ran out of the house and dove into the backseat of the car, frantically putting on his shoes and hauling his lacrosse stick. I shot him a grin from the rear view mirror. He replied with sticking out his tongue. I drove quickly, breaking a few laws on the way. I pulled up to the school and parked.
"You're coming to my practice?" He asked nervously as he got out of the car. I adjusted my leather jacket and stuffed my keys in my pocket before getting out of the car and locking it.
"I wanna see how good you're getting." I smiled and draped my arm around his scrawny shoulders. He beamed up at me and led me to the lacrosse field. I gave him a quick kiss on his head and a tight squeeze before going to the bleachers. My eyes landed on Caden. He laughed with some other pot heads. Don't they do drug tests or something?!
Cecil trotted over and started talking, he stayed far away from Caden. They started practice. I let my eyes wander from Cecil to Caden and back again. Cecil ducked and dodged is way across the field and scored. Lets just say Caden wasn't very happy after the 6th or 7th time that happened. I grinned. Cecil really was good.
"Sissy!" Caden mocked from across the field. Cecil turned in horror right as Caden shouldered him in the face. I leaped to my feet. The coach didn't even notice as Cecil slammed to the floor. I raced across the field, ignoring the curious glances of the other players. I pushed the damp hair out of Cecil's face. I could already see a bruise forming on his cheek and eye.
"Get off the field girly!" I knew the voice instantly. Cecil groaned in pain. I stroked his cheek softly.
"Shhh. Shhh. Cecil... I'll take you home in a second." I turn my gaze to Caden and stood up slowly. Caden's eyes widened as he assessed me. I advanced on him. His friends winked at me and looked me up and down. I locked my eyes on Caden.
"Now why the hell would you do that to him?!" I screamed, eyeing the slight bruise on his face. Oh it's about to get worse than that!
"Why do you care?!" He shouted back, taking a step forward so we were practically touching.
"That's my brother you fucking idiot! And you can never EVER touch him again!" I shoved at Caden's chest and sent him stumbling backwards.
"Get the fuck off this field Silah!" He shouted and gathered himself.
"I'm not done yet!" I shouted back and took a deep breath. "You want to know why you can't stop smoking weed? Huh? Because you never want to feel!" I took a step closer and pushed him again. "And you treat people like shit because that's how you were treated in 8th grade! Yeah, I remember! You were the weird kid who kept to himself and got good grades, got bullied and didn't mind." I shoved him again and watched him stumble for footing. I was way past just anger. I wanted him to feel. "You come to high school and you're the biggest asshole on the block. You have no right to treat my brother or anyone else like shit just because you were!" I screamed and shoved him A final time. All the built up anger just flowed out. It felt good.
Caden stumbled and grabbed me by my shoulders. His warm brown eyes bored down into mine. I balled my hands into fists and looked up at him for his stupid retort. What he did instead stunned me. Caden crashed his lips to mine hungrily. I stood frozen, eyes wide open as he kept kissing me. I shook my head and broke away from him. He stared at me wide eyed and dazed. All my anger flooded through my veins as I swung my balled up fist and crashed it to his face. He stumbled backwards as I turned on my heel and ran to Cecil. He stared at me. One eye was starting to swell up and his cheek started to turn a nice purple. I muttered curse words under my breath and grabbed his lacrosse bag. I draped my other arm around his shoulders and pulled him to the car.
"SILAH! SILAH WAIT!" Caden's voice called. I heard his jogging to catch up. I stuffed Cecil's lacrosse bag into the back of the car.
"Get in the car." I ordered Cecil before turning around and confronting Caden. His black hair was pushed back and he didn't look half bad in his uniform... NO BAD NO!
"Silah I'm so so sorry." He pleaded, reaching out to take my hands. I yanked them back and glared at him.
"Go to hell."
"Silah. I don't know what came over me. You just started talking and everything you said was true. I'm so sorry.." He sighed and ran a hand threw his hair.
"That's nice. Now, Go to HELL!! " I shouted and opened the car door, getting inside, and slamming it before he could say another word. How dare he!
"You alright Silah?" Cecil asked.
He rubbed my shoulder and glared out the window. I started the car and shrugged his hand off. I flipped the middle finger to Caden who hadn't moved and burned rubber getting the fuck out of here.
Was it bad that I liked his kiss?
