"I think you're ready to play the song." Nick grinned, impressed by the girl playing the song, only after a few days of practicing.

"Really? Thank you, Nick! That was all you."

"Okay, so what are you all going to do now?" Nick asked his brother and his friends.

"I think we should go back to the house tonight, then fix this."

"Yeah, maybe you should play the song tonight, when Elvira is around !"

"Then what? Is she even going to like it?" Mal questioned.

"Yes. Maybe. We don't know, but we can finally get rid of this curse!"

"Okay, you're right. I need to stop being so pessimistic." The girl replied.

That moment, Mal's phone rang. It was an unknown number, yet Mal didn't hesitate to answer.

"Hello. Is this Mal ?" The voice on the other side of the phone asked.
"Yes. Who is this ?" She replied.

"This is Doctor Jones from Central Hospital. We've met before when you asked me about Oakes' status."

"Yeah, I remember. Did something happen to Oakes ?"

"No, but.. He's going through a phase right now. He's always sitting alone, and is refusing to eat. He said that he wanted to see you first."

"Oh. So he's okay? I was going to come visit him this afternoon."

"Yes, but I suggest you don't be late. We think the phase he's in might affect his mental health later on."  The doctor explained. Mal closed her eyes and nodded desperately.

"Okay, fine. I'm going to be there as soon as I can."

The doctor hung up after muttering a small 'goodbye'. Mal then started to explain to her friends what the doctor said. They nodded, and began preparing to go to the hospital.

As soon as the group arrived at the hospital, Mal hurried to go to Oakes' room.

She arrived at the room, and knocked softly on the wooden door.

Then entered.

She saw Oakes lying on the bed, the tray filled with food lying on the table right next to him, untouched.

"Oakes?"
He looked up at the voice, and it was only then when she realized he was having a mental breakdown.

His eyes were red, with tears streaming down his face and small sobs escaping his mouth.

"Baby.." She whispered, and hurried towards him. She sat next to him and brought him into her embrace.

"Sweetheart, are you okay? What's wrong?"

He continued to sob in her arms, making her heart ache.

"I-"

She let him go slightly, and looked into his blue eyes. Then planted her lips on his. Once again, just like the day before, Oakes was clearly desperate for the contact.

Mal felt something in the pit of her stomach. Was it guilt ? No- it was fear.

"Oakes, talk to me-"

He interrupted her by kissing her again with passion.

After a few minutes, they both pulled away for breath, and the girl looked into his eyes, only to see that they were filled with pure fear and worry.

"What's wrong, baby?" She asked.

"I think I'm going to die.."
