MAL RAN TOWARDS Oakes' hospital room, even though the doctors repeatedly told her that she needed to be checked for physical injuries.

She opened the door quickly, and saw Oakes curled into a ball on his bed, his face between his knees. Her heart ached.

"Oakes ? Are you okay, baby ?" She muttered gently, walking towards him and sitting on the bed across from him.

He looked up immediately, his eyes widening. He wrapped his arms around her and began to sob.

She hugged him back tightly, running her hand through his hair.
"M-Mal, I saw her ! She wanted to kill me, and..-"

He shoved her away gently, and stared into her eyes.
"I-I almost died..! The doctors told me that I was d-dead..-"

Tears filled her eyes, and threatened to stream down her face. She reached up to touch his cheek gently.

"Y-You're okay. You're okay, don't worry. Thank God."
She wrapped him in another tight, soothing embrace, and broke down into tears.

"Thank Goodness. I wouldn't know what to do without you." She whispered.

"I'm so sorry that I believed something that wasn't real, Oakes. I'm sorry I was rude to you, and ignored you. I did it because it hurt to know what I knew, even if it wasn't real.."

She let him go, looking hard into his blue eyes. Then leaned in to plant a soft, passionate kiss on his lips. He kissed her back, slightly baffled by her reaction.

As soon as they broke away, she hugged him again tightly.

"I-I feel so safe with you.. Even when you were mad at me, I still enjoyed having you in the same room. I don't want this feeling to ever leave.." He spoke sincerely. Mal smiled through the embrace.

"I love you, Oakes. So much."

"I love you too.."

After a few moments, they let go. Oakes squeezed her hand gently, and gave her a small smile.

"Do you want to be my girlfriend, again ?"

She nodded happily.

"Gladly."

- One Week Later -

The couple were yet going on a second date. Oakes invited Mal to Cozy Corner, and both were talking about how happy they were to have each other.

Oakes's eyes sparkled with happiness, and it sent butterflies down the girl's stomach. Adam saw them, and smiled.

"They look so cute together." He mumbled. Rajwan came up and stood next to him.

"Too bad I have to interrupt their moment."

He mumbled back as he walked towards them.
"Hey lovebirds. Sorry to interrupt, but you guys have to see this."

He held up a newspaper he was holding the entire time, making Mal and Oakes see the headline on the front page.
