Asher
"And don't forget Juniors and Seniors to turn in your order form for the classes of 2017 2018 sales in. Today's lunch is cheese burgers with potato squares. Have A great day students." The announcements ended as well as the silence in the classroom. The substitute was late, and none of the students bothered informing the office.
"Asher! Dude," a voice to my right called out to me while I tried to finish my chemistry homework. Maksean was trying to explain it to me this morning, but it was hopeless.
I turned my head to find Samuel Summers and his two buddies Carlos Rustin and Benji Williams. They're all football players that always try to wrap me into playing for the team before each season. From what I know, they aren't bad guys. Sure they aren't the nicest people, but they at least try in class and attempt to maintain a 4.0.
"Hey man, what's up?" I asked, we might know each other, but we never hung out outside of parties and even then not so much.
"Do you know Maskean Swift?" He asked, getting up from his seat four tables away to sit a bit closer so he wasn't talking across the classroom. Rustin and Williams following close behind. Samuel always wore this charming prince like smile that matched his dark hair. He was often compared to Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid.
The question threw me off, but I nodded. "Uh yeah?" I figured the entire upper class knew about our relationship based on how many people reacted to us. "Why?" I just figured they would know.
Samuel went to answer, but Carlos cut him off. "Because we found out she works at this adorable diner near the outside of town, and she looked so hot in her uniform. Sammy here wanted to know if you knew if she was dating anyone. He's planning on going again after school to ask her out."
"Carlos!" Samuel shoved his friend out of his chair, but kept that charming smile. "But yeah, he's right. We heard you two were friends so I figured I could ask for your help."
There was a burning sensation building up in my gut as Carlos and Samuel explained, and I had to hold in from glaring at the poor guy.
"You want my help?" I gritted through my teeth. There weren't rumors about us being "friends", they were all about us dating or just being fuck buddies. So either there's something I haven't heard or they're lying.
"Yeah, so is she dating anyone?" Charming asked.
I sat up straighter and tilted my head to the side as I fought back a glare and a growing smirk. "Yes."
Sam wasn't looking at me when I answered, but his head shot back to look me in the eye. "Huh? Who?"
I leaned forward and finally released the smirk. "Me." I stood up and grabbed my bags. I knew Maksean was still in music, but I really needed somewhere quiet to work on my homework. "Maksean Swift is my girlfriend. So I'd chill out if I were you."
Benji and Carlos shot up to look me in the eyes. "And he doesn't'?" Benji asked, his brown eyebrows pointing downwards.
"Fellas, settle down. I won't take another man's girl," Samuel started as he rose from his seat. "But she might just leave you on her own."
I rolled my eyes and shoved past him, "you can try, but I can promise you one thing." I turned to face him just as I made it to the door. "I'm her boyfriend, and if you mess with her, you'll deal with me. And I can also promise that I am not the scariest person you'll have to deal with either."
I left the room after that and didn't look back until I had turned the corner. I wasn't sure where to go other than the old classroom. The stairs just seemed too inconvenient since I would have another down stairs classroom after this one, so I headed towards the gym.
