Maksean
"Maksean! Wake up," my father yelled, unaware of the fact that he was ten minutes late, and my alarm already woke me up. I didn't tell him though and just allowed him to go through his dramatic ways of waking his children up.
It was Monday and I was already missing sleep. After Dani interrupted the moments between Asher and I, he walked me to the bus and would only let me go after leaning down to press a warm kiss upon my forehead. By the time we got home Saturday night it was actually Sunday morning, and I was so physically tired I passed out as soon as my head hit my pillow. The last thing I saw being Asher on the phone, back facing me for the second night in a row. Yesterday, however, the boy next door was nowhere to be seen. I spent the day moving things around and finally unpacking all of my belongings. Adrian went out and got me some curtains to match my room, but I was reluctant to hang them.
I couldn't help but notice that Asher's truck wasn't in his driveway when I waited for the bus with Emma and Trey.
I never liked taking the bus. Too many annoying children who don't understand that at 7 in the morning a high school student doesn't care about middle school drama. It won't be long before I get my own vehicle. I had my license and was even about to get the truck of my dreams. A two door dark red pickup truck that belonged to my grandfather. He would always take me on his crazy adventures with him in that truck and promised it would be mine someday. But my aunt did not agree with the idea as one could guess. She got the executor to sell it rather than give it to their "murderer", so I take the bus and save up for a vehicle of my own.
Emma and Trey didn't sit too far from me, but they do have friends to sit with. My high school was the last stop so when they got off at their own stops, both sent me waves.
The courtyard was loud and alive by the time I was on campus. Dani and Luka would be in the band hall by now to "practice", so I know not to look for them. I decided to go ahead and make my way to the chemistry lab in an attempt to finish some experiments for a mini project before school began (I'm a nerd, I am aware) when a tall light skinned boy with large hair stepped out in front of me. Rooney.
Rooney was the only other junior on the drumline. He was a cheerful and goofy guy, standing a 6'5" (hair being three inches tall). His greenish blue eyes and bright smile only add to his charming personality. The two of us have been friends since we both joined our middle school percussion ensemble. We even went to a few dances last year together.
"Hey Maks!" He started very cheerful, a large grin almost blinding me. "I heard a rumor," He sang, his grin growing making me a little nervous. That was one of the few reasons I never thought about being anything more with Rooney. His love for drama was too much for me. If someone broke up with someone else, or cheated, or even if someone farted in class, Rooney knew. He was a very open person which was nice, but he wasn't good at understanding that not everyone was that open with their personal life. I myself wasn't much of a drama person, but with Rooney around, I pretty much know everything as well.
Of course I know what it must be for him to find me this early and not wait until class. Asher and I. And if Rooney knows, I can be sure that most of our grade and maybe school knows too. Asher was popular and that didn't help. It didn't help that he posted something about us, nor was it smart for him to just drive so far to watch our competition and then kiss my head.
Wait- did I just say Asher and I? Is there an Asher and I? Is there something I should worry about? I mean it's not like we're together, and if we were why would it be an issue? It wouldn't, but there is no Asher and I so there is no is-
"Maksean?" Rooney waved his darker hand in front of my pale growing face. "Are you okay?" He cocked his left eyebrow upward to further his confusion.
